narmapravṛttinimittasyābhāve jāyamāne sati prayojyavyāpāre 'pi atyantābhāvasya vidhānaṃ nirvyavasāyenaiva prāptaṃ bhavati kiṃcid viśeṣavidhānaṃ yatra nopalabhyata iti bhāvaḥ tasmād anutarṣasvīkaraṇād anantaram eva narmakarmādhikāre ādhikārikatvam iti pañcasūtrāṇām eka eva tātparyārthaḥ māghakirātaraghuvaṃśeṣu siddhāntitasya vākyasyaivāyam anuvādaḥ na tv apūrvavidhānaṃ svamanīṣayā upakalpya proktam iti śaṅkanīyam kiṃca dvitīyāvasthām atikrāntasya diṣṭyātmajāyayā saha asaṃstutapremaprāduṣkaraṇe saṃyuktasya janasya saprakārakarasotpattyanubhave tādṛṅmanīṣāyā abhāvāt sīdhusaṃgrahaṇaṃ tathā cāyam arthaḥ atikrāntāvasthayā saha madhuvāre jāyamāne udañjidhārṣṭyaṃ naivotpadyate tayā saha tādṛgvyavasāyaḥ vaiyarthyatāṃ pratipadyate nyubjaghaṭopari jalapūraṇanyāyena tasmāt ratitantravilāse udañjidhārṣṭye manīṣāvatā puruṣeṇa galitayauvanayā saha madhuvāro naiva kartavya ity arthaḥ nirarthakaprayāse kasyāpi matir naivotpadyata iti nyāyāt dhanvantaryādīnāṃ matam anusṛtya kāpiśāyanasvīkaraṇe 'nirvacanīyāhlādadyotakam upakārāntaram anudarśayati śyāmayā saheti ṣoḍaśavārṣikī śyāmeti vātsyāyanasūtre prasiddhiḥ tādṛgavasthayā yoṣayā saha niveśanaṃ pānaṃ patiṣu nirviviśur madam aṅganā ity atra nirveśanaśabde pānaṃ lakṣyate yāmapramāṇaṃ yāmadvayasaṃ pramāṇe dvayasaj iti sūtreṇa pramāṇārthe dvayasacpratyayaḥ tādṛkpramāṇopalakṣite diṣṭe kāle kālo diṣṭopyanehāpīti kośasmaraṇāt tāvatkālam abhivyāpyeti yāvat retaḥstambhane paramakāraṇam iti tayā saha kāpiśāyanasya svīkaraṇe kriyamāṇe ekayāmaparyantaṃ varāṅgopari vrīhikaṇḍanavat āghātaṃ karotīty arthaḥ idānīṃ narmavyāpāravistāre 'paricitanarmasukhānandāya nidhuvanāt pūrvaṃ kāpiśāyanaprāśanaṃ narmakhedāpanuttaye 'tyāvaśyakatvenānudarśayati nistanūruhavarāṅga iti nirgataṃ tanūruhaṃ yasmāt tat nistanūruhaṃ tanūruhāṇāṃ prādurbhāveṇa rahitaṃ tac ca tat varāṅgaṃ ca tasya sambhedanaṃ svakīyenodañjinā mukhavidāraṇaṃ tādṛkkarmaṇi kriyamāṇe ajñātanarmavyāpārāyaireyaprāśanaṃ kārayitavyam kṛte aireyaprāśane manasijasadmavidīrṇavyathā sambhedakāle nānubhūyate itarathā sadmavidīrṇajanyavyathayā sadmani sthitānāṃ nāḍīnāṃ viparyāsena vyānavāyau saṃkaṭavyathā atitarām anubhūyate tadvyathānivāraṇārthaṃ nidhuvanāt pūrvaṃ dvipalapramāṇaṃ kāpiśāyanaṃ pāyayitavyam ity arthaḥ tayā yoṣayā kāpiśāyane pīte sati uttarasūtreṇa pānajanyaṃ yat sukhaṃ tad darśayati kriyamāṇe 'nuprāśana iti priyasakhīdvārā kriyamāṇe 'nuprāśane satīti jñeyam madāvirbhāveṇa anusaṃdhānābhāvāt nirbhedajanyā vyathā nānubhūyate ity arthaḥ uttarasmin ghasre upakārakāntaram anudarśayati uttarasmin ghasre iti varāṅgavidīrṇād anantaram uttarasmin ghasre dine asaṃbheditam iva avidīrṇam iva paridṛśyate varāṅgam idam eva upakārakāntaram yoṣāyā anuprāśanena taddvārā uttararūpe phalavaiśiṣṭyaṃ saṃpradarśayati kriyamāṇe narmavyāpāra iti uttararūpeṇa kriyamāṇe narmavyāpāre nidhuvanavyāpāre udañjer dhārṣṭyasya yaṣṭikāṇḍam iva atikaṭhinatāṃ samprāptasya meḍhrasya phalegrahir avandhyasāmarthyaṃ paridṛśyate etad uktaṃ bhavati kāpiśāyanasya anuprāśanamātreṇātisaṃkucitatvaṃ prāptasya yoṣāyāḥ varāṅgasya atidṛḍhatamasyāpy udañjeḥ varāṅgamukhavidīrṇane sāmarthyābhāvāt parābhavaṃ prāpta evety arthaḥ sambhedite 'pi varāṅge kāpiśāyanaprāśanena atisaṃkocaṃ prāptasya yoṣāyāḥ varāṅgasya vivarakaraṇe udañjau mahatī vyathā prādurbhūyate iti bhāvaḥ anena vākyena dvitīyavṛttāv api punaḥ yo 'nividīrṇasukhaṃ puruṣo 'nubhūyate iti tātparyārthaḥ śyāmayā saha nirveśane ratisukhodbodhanaṃ vīryastambhanaṃ kālāvadhiṃ ca proktam upaśyāmayā saha krīḍane samupasthitau tatrāpi aireyasvīkaraṇasya atyāvaśyakatvenānuvidhānaṃ vidadhāti upaśyāmayā saheti aprāptayauvanābhiḥ saha bāhyatantre manīṣāyāḥ samupasthitau aṇumātraṃ tasyai prāśayitavyaṃ tāvanmātreṇaiva ubhayoḥ ānandasukhānulabdheḥ cumbanādivyāpāre anuvidhīyamāne alpasvīkāramātreṇa ānandānubhavadarśanāt na tatra ādhikyena pāśinaḥ ātmajāyāḥ svīkaraṇam iti hetuvādaṃ manasi nidhāya auttarīyaṃ sūtram anuśāsti aprāptayauvanābhiḥ saheti idānīm utkaṭayauvanāvasthāyām aireyaprāśanaṃ ratitantravilāse upadiśyate netarāvasthāyām upayogābhāvād anadhikāritvād ity ālocya dvitīyāvasthāyām atyāvaśyakatvam iti paurastyasūtreṇānudarśayati tīyapratyayasya prakṛtibhūtāyām iti tīyapratyayasya prakṛtibhūtāyām avasthāyāṃ dvitīyāyām avasthāyāṃ dves tīya ity anena dviśabdāt tīyapratyaye sati dvitīyaśabdo niṣpadyate tasyām avasthāyāṃ kaśyasvīkaraṇasyātyāvaśyakatvam sati pūrvarūpasaṃyoge tādṛgavasthāvatyāḥ yoṣāyāḥ saṃnidhāne satīti jñeyam nanu dṛṣṭaprayojanam uddiśya svīkaraṇaṃ vidhīyate vā adṛṣṭaphalam uddiśya vā dṛṣṭaprayojanasyaivātrākāṅkṣitatvān nādṛṣṭaprayojanam uddiśyeti dṛṣṭaprayojanaṃ tu udañjidārḍhyapūrvarūpasya dṛṣṭaprayojanaṃ tu āsyorojādyavayaveṣu usrādhikyasyātyādhikyatvena saṃdarśanam etasya phalatritayasyānubhavārthaṃ dvitīyāvasthāvatā puruṣeṇa yoṣayā saha atyāvaśyakatvena sīdhugrahaṇaṃ rativilāsakāle sarvathaiva kartavyam ity arthaḥ saṃprasāraṇaviśiṣṭatīyapratyayasya prakṛtibhūtāyām avasthāyāṃ tu nātyāvaśyakam ity āha taditarāvasthāyām iti diṣṭakanyayā vyāptāyām avasthāyām urojandhayāyām avasthāyāṃ ca tasya prāśane nādhikārikatvam iti ubhayatra hetutvena sūtradvayaṃ pradarśayati ekatra parijñānābhāvād iti ekatra paugaṇḍavayasaḥ puruṣakalpasya uttarasmin kāle upaśyāmayā samīkṛte anehasi andhasaḥ rasasya retasaḥ paripakvatāyāḥ abhāvāt tādṛkkarmādhikāre nādhikāritā itaratreti jīrṇāvasthāyām api tadānīṃ diṣṭakanyayā saha atinarmavyavasāyena sarvāsām indriyavṛttānāṃ svakīyapravṛttau kṣīṇataratvasya dṛśyamānatvān nādhikārakatvam bālasya tathā jarāvataḥ puruṣasya ubhayoḥ narmakarmādhikāre nādhikāriteti sūtradvayasya tātparyārthaḥ kāraṇarūpopādhau satyāṃ kāryarūpasyopādheḥ anudarśanam iti nyāyena padmāyāḥ anugraheṇa paripūritānāṃ sārvabhaumādīnām eva anayā puṣpadhanuṣaḥ saraṇyā anuvartanaṃ sārvakālikaṃ nityakarmādhikāravat yuktataraṃ nānyeṣām iti prakaraṇopasaṃhāram anudarśayati haripriyāvatāṃ janānām iti nanu ekatra vidhāne niṣedhavākyaṃ kutra vidhīyate ity uktaṃ cet pūrvoktajanapratiyogikeṣu pravartate ity āśayenāha taditareṣām iti kṣīrodajāyāḥ vibhavena rahitānām ity arthaḥ nanu atyāvaśyakatvena īdṛkkarmavidhānaṃ kutrābhivyāptam iti cet tat sthānaṃ saṃpradarśayati pāriśeṣyād iti pariśeṣasya bhāvaḥ pāriśeṣyaṃ tasmāt niṣedhavyāptyā rahitāt pārāvāratanūjayā saṃyukteṣv eva kāpi śāyanasvīkaraṇaśāstrasya pravṛttiḥ anirvacanīyānandabodhāya pravartata ity arthaḥ matāntaram anudiśati gotrāpatyaghasreṣv iti gotrāyāḥ apatyaṃ tasya ghasraṃ dinaṃ tasmin dine anutarṣasvīkaraṇam iti mṛkaṇḍatanūjasya matam taditareṣāṃ matam uttarasūtreṇānudarśayati kāvyaghasreṣv iti śukro daityaguruḥ kāvya iti kośābhidhānāt ghasro dināhanī vā tv ity amaraḥ surathādaya iti ādiśabdena vaiśyasya saṃgrahaḥ niyamavidheḥ tātparyārthaṃ saṃpradarśayati vākyadvayasyeti śaktyupāsanāvatām evāyaṃ niyamaḥ yat ghasradvaye 'py anuvartanaṃ taditareṣāṃ janānāṃ pralambaghnamatānuyāyināṃ tu yathākālopadeśa iti na ghasradvaye parisaṃkhyānam ity arthaḥ kiṃca dvitīyavarṇe iti kṣatrajātau dvitīyavarṇe kāpiśāyanasvīkaraṇavidhānaṃ sārvakālikaṃ tāmasīprakṛteḥ upāsanādhikāravatāṃ nirantaraṃ kādambarasvīkaraṇaṃ kartavyatvenābhimatam aparokṣānubhavena tatsvarūpānudarśane upādānakāraṇatvāt ātmabhuvaḥ tanoḥ upāsanādhikāravat na ghasrayoḥ anuvartanam aupadeśikavarṇasya niyamavidhānaṃ vidadhāti yāgahetuneti vājapeye surāgrahān gṛhṇāti sautrāmaṇyāṃ surāgrahān gṛhṇātīti vākyadvayena prathamavarṇikasya yathāvācanikam eva grahaṇaprāśaneṣu ādhikāriko vidhiḥ tathā cāyam arthaḥ vājapeye tu grahaṇamātrasyaivābhyanujñānaṃ prāśanābhyanujñānaṃ tu tṛtīyavarṇasyaiva tathā cānuśravikavākyaṃ vimāthaṃ kurvate vājasṛta iti sautrāmaṇyāṃ tu yāgakartur eva prāśanaṃ nigamavākyenābhidhīyate netareṣām ṛtvijām tatrāpy āghrāṇenaiva prāśanapratipattir iti matāntaram iti ṛṣyantarāṇāṃ vacanam iti sārvakālikābhyanujñānaṃ tu rasādhipatīnām eva nānyeṣāṃ janānām iti prakaraṇārtham upasaṃharati khaṇḍamaṇḍalādhipatyādīnām iti alpaviṣayasya śāsanakartṝṇāṃ rājñāṃ lokamātur anugraheṇa paripūritānāṃ sīdhugrahaṇena vilāsānubhavaḥ vilāsānām anubhavanaṃ sārvakālikam na surathavaiśyādīnāṃ matam anusṛtya pravartanam ity arthaḥ yuvatīnāṃ prāśane niyamavidhiṃ saṃpradarśayati svakīyapriyasāhacaryeṇeti nidhuvanakāle eva svapatibhiḥ sārdhaṃ kādambarasvīkaraṇasyābhyanujñānaṃ netarāvasthāyāṃ kutaḥ upayogābhāvāt niṣphalaprayāse svīkaraṇasya vaiyarthyāpatteḥ niyamavidhāv api kiṃcid viśeṣāntaram anubadhnāti tatrāpi ananyajamakheṣv eveti ananyajena kriyamāṇeṣu makheṣv eva atyāvaśyakatvena anutarṣasvīkaraṇavidhānaṃ netaratra tadatiriktakāleṣv iti yoṣāyāḥ atra yoṣāsaṃgraheṇa upaśyāmādīnām eva saṃgrahaḥ na vibhraṃśitadvitīyāvasthānām āsyapadmena prāśanaṃ tu atyutkṛṣṭaphalaviśeṣāntaraṃ niścitya atyāvaśyakatvena prāśanam anudarśayati yoṣāyāḥ āsyapadmeneti yoṣāyāḥ āsyapadmena prāśane kriyamāṇe yathecchikī bhāṣāyāḥ anusphurtir bhavatīty arthaḥ anena vākyena śravaṇādivyavasāyarahite 'pi jane niṣprayāsenaiva tridaśānāṃ gīḥ svamukhāt prādurbhūyata ity arthaḥ anyad apy utkṛṣṭataraṃ phalaviśeṣāntaraṃ svīkāramātreṇa saṃpradarśayati śyāmāyā āsyasahasrapattrād iti śyāmāyāḥ kamalaprasūnāt anuprāśanaṃ pratyakṣānubhavena sākṣāt mūlaprakṛteḥ svarūpānudarśane hetuḥ kāraṇam iti tayā saha saṃprāśane kriyamāṇe kṛtsnasya prapañcasya kāraṇabhūtāyāḥ mūlaprakṛteḥ sākaṃ saṃgato bhavati yad vā tatsvarūpaṃ sākṣād avyavadhānena paśyatīty arthaḥ anena vākyena sāyujyādikaṃ phalam api nirāyāsena
