Privacy notice
Last updated: 24 May 2026
This notice describes how Vamshanidhi handles personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA). It will be expanded as the platform moves towards public launch; pending sections are marked TBD.
What we collect
- Public catalog records (temples, manuscripts, lineage entries) — these are not personal data unless a contributor explicitly links a living person.
- Account data for registered contributors and scholars (email, display name, contribution history).
- Operational logs (request logs, error traces) — retained for a short window for reliability and abuse prevention.
Cookies
Essential cookies are used to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference. Analytics cookies, when enabled in a future release, will only run if you explicitly opt in via the consent banner. No advertising cookies are or will be used.
Your rights under DPDPA
- Right of access, correction, and erasure of your personal data.
- Right to nominate, and right to grievance redressal.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time.

Under the DPDPA 2023, you may raise any complaint about how Vamshanidhi handles your personal data with our Grievance Officer.
Grievance Officer (interim): the founder of Vamshanidhi.
