upatiṣṭhate tatas prātar prāk udayāt dvādaśa caturviṃśatim ṣaṭtriṃśatam aṣṭācatvāriṃśatam vā varṣāṇi yaḥ brahmacaryam carati malajñuḥ abalaḥ kṛśaḥ sarvam sa vindate snātvā yat kiṃcid manasā icchati etena eva dharmeṇa sādhu adhīte chandasi arthān buddhvā snāsyan gām kārayet ācāryam arhayet śrotriyaḥ anyaḥ veda adhyāyī na tasya snānam atha asya snānam vraja parihitam prapādya jaṭā śmaśru loma nakham abhisaṃhārya āpaḥ hi stha iti tisṛbhiḥ snāyāt hiraṇya varṇāḥ iti ca dvābhyām yā agniṃ garbhaṃ dadhire virūpās tā na āpaḥ śaṃ syonā bhavantu hiraṇyavarṇā śucayaḥ pāvakā vicakramur hitvāvadyam āpaḥ śataṃ pavitrā vitatā hy āsāṃ tābhir mā devāḥ savitā punātv iti śaṃ na iti ca dvābhyām dyauḥ te pṛṣṭham iti chatram dhārayet imam agne iti hiraṇyam pratiṣṭhe sthaḥ devate mā mā hiṃsiṣṭam iti vārāhyau upānahau pratimuñcate dvi vastraḥ atas ūrdhvam tasmāt śobhanam vāsaḥ bhartavyam iti śrutiḥ vaiṇava daṇḍa dhārī nityam chatra dhārī a pantha dāyī a datta haraṇam pratiṣiddham aparayā dvārā niḥsaraṇam malavat vāsasā saha saṃbhāṣā rajaḥ vāsasā saha śayyā guroḥ durukta vacanam asthāne smayanam saraṇam gāyanam nartanam tasya ca īkṣaṇam athāto 'ṣṭācatvāriṃśatsaṃmitam tatra vidhiviśeṣaḥ niyameṣv ācāryapradhānaḥ syāt nilayārthī yūnabaddhaṃ na praviśet anilayaḥ syāt anyatra vṛkṣād vālmīkād vā nistāntavam ity eke yathoktam ekaṃ tu vāsaḥ śāṇī kutapaṃ vā parimitam uraḥ pramāṇam uparijānu caturthakālapānabhakṣaḥ asaṃcayavān ahar ahar vā bhaikṣam aśnīyāt ahaṃs tiṣṭhed rātrāv āsīta ubhayaṃ munivrataḥ syāt strīśūdrapatitarabhasarajasvalair vā na sambhāṣeteti cyavano bhṛguḥ dvādaśarātraṃ vobhayatra amāvasyāṃ paurṇamāsīṃ ca pālāśyaḥ samidho nityāḥ paridhivṛkṣāṇāṃ vā medhāṃ mahyam iti pāṇimārgaṃ dattvā triṣavaṇam ahorātram udakopasparśanam namo hamāya mohamāyeti cānusavanam namo hamāya mohamāyāgnaye vaiśvānarāya tapāya tāpasāya tapantāya vindave vindāya vasuvindāya sarvavindāya namaḥ pārāya supārāya pārayantāya nama ūrmyāya sūrmyāya namaś cyavanāya bhārgavāyety etā eva devatās tarpayann udakena eṣa saṃvatsaraṃ caritvā vimalo vipāpo bhavati sarveṣāṃ vedānāṃ caritabrahmacaryo yadi nānyat kurute sa tu khalu caritabrahmacaryo daśa daśa puruṣān punāti pūrvāparān ātmānaṃ caikaviṃśaṃ paṅktiṃ ca yāvad anupaśyati yasyām upaviśati samāpta etāsām eva devatānām annasya juhoti dhenur dakṣiṇā kṛcchra vidhim vyākhyāsyāmaḥ devāsaḥ yathā ācaran vasavaḥ rudrāḥ ādityāḥ marut aṅgirasaḥ purā strī śūdram na abhibhāṣeta naktam āsīta saṃśritaḥ sarvāṇi ahāni tiṣṭhet brahmacārī kṣapā śayaḥ madhu māṃsa lavaṇa śrāddhāni varjayet a vicārayan gava ajinam śāṇī cīram kutapam mārgam vā vāsaḥ ucyate sarva akuśala mokṣāya marutaḥ api ācaran tathā tri aham sāyam tri aham prātar tri aham bhuñjīta a yācitam tri aham na eva tu bhuñjīta etat vasubhiḥ rudraiḥ ādityaiḥ caritam vratam eṣaḥ marutāṃ homo marutas tarpayet gomūtraṃ gomayaṃ kṣīraṃ dadhi sarpiḥ kuśodakam ekarātropavāsaś ca kṛcchraṃ sāntapanaṃ smṛtam etad eva trir abhyastaṃ mahāsāṃtapanaṃ smṛtam athātra vratopāyanam vasavo vratapatayo rudrā vratapataya ādityā vratapatayo marudaṅgiraso vratapataya iti vratam ālabhya vasūn adbhis tarpayet prathamasmiṃs trirātre rudrān dvitīya ādityāṃs tṛtīye marudaṅgirasaś caturthe ā me gṛhā iti dvābhyāṃ vasūnāṃ sthālīpākasya juhoti asaṅkhyāteti daśabhī rudrāṇām kadācana starīr asīti pañcabhir ādityānām sāṃtapanā iti ṣaḍbhir marudgaṇānāṃ tvām agne aṅgiraso vāyur agregā iti ca havyavāham iti sviṣṭakṛtam varṣāsu śravaṇena adhyāyān upākaroti sa juhoty apvā nāmāsi tasyās te juṣṭīyaṃ gameyam aham iddhi pituṣ pari medhām ṛtasya jagṛbha ahaṃ sūrya ivājani svāhā rantir nāmāsi yuktir nāmāsi yogo nāmāsīty uttarās tisraḥ tasyāḥ te iti sarvatra anuṣajati yuje svāhā udyuje svāhā yuktyai svāhā yogāya svāhā iti antevāsinām yogam icchan dadhikrāvṇaḥ iti tris dadhi bhakṣayitvā darbha pāṇiḥ sāvitrīm tris anvāha āditaḥ ca trīn anuvākān kaḥ tvā yunakti iti ca tasya anadhyāyaḥ na vidyotamāne na stanayati ākālikaṃ devatumulaṃ vidyud dhanvolkā ācāreṇānye atyakṣarāḥ śabdāḥ saṃtatavalīkaprasrāvaḥ ardhapañcamān māsān adhītya pañca ardhaṣaṣṭhān vā utsṛjate utsṛjāmahe adhyāyān prativiśvasantu chandāṃsi kaḥ tvā vimuñcati iti ca tasya anadhyāyaḥ amāvasyām pakṣiṇīm na adhīte na atas ūrdhvam abhreṣu atha upaniṣad arhāḥ brahmacārī sucaritī medhāvī karma kṛt dhana daḥ priyaḥ vidyayā vā vidyām anvicchan tāni tīrthāni brahmaṇaḥ navam nava avasānam samam sa mūlam samavasrāvam samavasrutya vā yasmāt prāc udīcīḥ āpaḥ nirdraveyuḥ pratyak udīcīḥ vā tasmin prāc dvāram dakṣiṇa dvāram vā śaraṇam kārayet madhyamāyāḥ karte prāc agra udak agrān darbhān āstīrya teṣu sthūṇām avadadhāti dhruvāṃ sinomy amṛtasya patnīṃ kṣeme tiṣṭha ghṛtam ukṣamāṇā tāṃ tvā sthūṇe sarvavīrāḥ suvīrā ariṣṭavīrā iha saṃviśema ihaiva sthūṇe amṛtena rohāśvavato gomaty amṛtavatī sūnṛtāvatī ūrjasvatī payasvatī cāsmān sthūṇe payasābhyavavṛtsva ā tvā kumāras taruṇa ā vatso jagatā saha ā tvā parisrutaḥ kumbha ā dadhnaḥ kalaśair ayam iti prāñcam vaṃśam samāropayati ṛtena sthūṇām adhiroha vaṃśa ugraḥ virājan upasedha śatrūn atha rayim sarva vīrāḥ vayam te iti uttara pūrvam samādhānam amīva hāḥ vāstoṣpate iti catasṛbhiḥ vāstoṣpatīyasya sthālīpākasya iṣṭvā atha vāstu āviśet amīvahā vāstoṣpate viśvā rūpāṇy āviśan sakhā suśeva edhi naḥ vāstoṣpate pratijānīhy asmān svāveśo anamīvo bhavā naḥ yat tvemahi prati tan no juṣasva śaṃ no bhava dvipade śaṃ catuṣpade vāstoṣpate prataraṇo na edhi gayasphāno gobhir aśvebhir indo ajarāsas te sakhye syāma piteva putrān prati no juṣasva vāstoṣpate śagmayā saṃsadā te sakṣīmahi raṇvayā gātumatyā pāhi kṣema uta yoge varaṃ no yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā na iti vaṃśodvīkṣaṇikaṃ brāhmaṇān bhojayet atha pākayajñaḥ caturvidhaḥ pākayajñaḥ bhavati hutaḥ ahutaḥ prahutaḥ prāśitaḥ ca iti hutaḥ hutānām upahāraḥ ahutānām piṇḍapitṛyajñaḥ prahutānām madhuparkaḥ brahmaudanaḥ ca prāśitānām darśa pūrṇamāsa prakṛtayaḥ pākayajñāḥ teṣu āvṛt upacāraḥ tūṣṇīm anarthaluptam prayāja abhāvāt ca upabhṛt udagayane bhāryām vindeta kṛttikā svāti pūrvaiḥ iti varayet lakṣaṇinā lakṣaṇāni parīkṣayet bhāgadheyam api vā piṇḍaiḥ parīkṣayet vedyāḥ sītāyāḥ hradāt goṣṭhāt ādevanāt ādahanāt catuṣpathāt iriṇāt saṃbhāryam navamam ṛtam eva parameṣṭhī ṛtam na atyeti kiṃcana ṛte iyam pṛthivī śritā sarvam idam iyam asau bhūyāt iti kanyāyāḥ nāma gṛhītvā sarvatas kṛta lakṣaṇān piṇḍān pāṇau ādāya kumāryai upanāmayet eteṣām ekam gṛhāṇa iti brūyāt pūrveṣām caturṇām ekam gṛhṇatīm upayacchet saṃbhāryam api iti eke rohiṇī mṛgaśiraḥ śraviṣṭhāḥ uttarāṇi iti upayame yat vā puṇya uktam atha brahmadeyāyāḥ pradānavidhiṃ vakṣyāmaḥ śuddhapakṣasya puṇyāhe parvaṇi vodagagrān darbhān āstīrya teṣūpaviśataḥ prāṅmukhaḥ pratigrahītā sāmātyaḥ pratyaṅmukhaḥ pradātā madhye prāgagrodagagrān darbhān āstīrya teṣūdakaṃ saṃnidhāya vrīhiyavān opya dakṣiṇata udaṅṅ āsīna ṛtvig upayamanaṃ kārayet sameteṣv āha dadānīti pratigṛhṇāmīti trir āvedayate etad vaḥ satyam ity uktvā samānā vaḥ saṃ vo manāṃsīty ṛtvig ubhau samīkṣamāṇo japati atha śulkadeyāyāḥ hiraṇyaṃ vyatiharataḥ prajābhyas tveti pradadāti rāyaspoṣāya tveti pratigṛhṇāti kaṃse hiraṇyaṃ samupya hiraṇyavarṇā iti catasṛbhiḥ samavamṛśante gaudānikair mantraiḥ kanyām alaṃkṛtya catuṣpāde bhadrapīṭhe prāṅāsīnāyāś catasro 'vidhavā mātā pitā ca guruḥ saptamas tāṃ sahasracchidreṇa pavitreṇa snāpayitvāhatena vāsasā pracchādya sthālīpākasya juhotīndrāya svāhendrāṇyai svāhā kāmāya svāhā bhagāya svāhā hriyai svāhā śriyai svāhā lakṣmyai svāhā puṣṭyai svāhā viśvāvasave gandharvarājāya svāheti nāḍīṃ tūṇavaṃ mṛdaṅgaṃ paṇavaṃ sarvāṇi ca vāditrāṇi gandhodakena samupalipya kanyā pravādayate śunaṃ vada dundubhe suprajāstvāya gomukha prakrīḍayantu kanyāḥ sumanasyamānāḥ sahendrāṇyā kṛtamaṅgalā iti pratisakhi prakrīḍayaty ekam ahar dve vāhorātre yajñiyasya vṛkṣasya prāgāyatāṃ śākhāṃ sakṛdācchinnāṃ sūtratantunā pracchādya sāvitreṇa kanyāyai prayacchati yā te 'lakṣmīr mātṛmayī pitṛmayī saṃkrāmaṇī sahajā vāpi kācit tāṃ tiṣyeṇa saha devatayā nirbhajāmi nirṇudāmi sā dviṣantaṃ gacchatu tiṣyabṛhaspatibhyāṃ namo nama iti tasyā utsargaḥ sthāvarodake śucau vā devatāyatane athāto haviṣyakalpaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ daśavārṣikaṃ brahmacaryaṃ kumārīṇāṃ dvādaśavārṣikaṃ vā brahmacaryānte gandharve devakule vā dvāv agnī prajvālya dvau paśū upākaroty aryamṇe dakṣiṇaṃ prājāpatyam uttaram asaṃbhave tv ekapaśuḥ taṇḍulair vā kuryāt yathāsthānaṃ paśur yathāsthānam avadānāni tathā haviḥ agniṃ somaṃ varuṇaṃ mitram indraṃ bṛhaspatiṃ skandaṃ rudraṃ vātsīputraṃ bhagaṃ bhaganakṣatrāṇi kālīṃ ṣaṣṭhīṃ bhadrakālīṃ pūṣaṇaṃ tvaṣṭāraṃ mahiṣikāṃ ca gandhāhutiṃbhir yajeta athāto haviṣyapuṇyāhaḥ udakāntaṃ gatvā yathopapatti vā payasi sthālīpākaṃ śrapayitvā sarvagandhaiḥ phalottaraiḥ saśiraskāṃ snāpayitvāhatena vāsasā pracchādya sthālīpākasya juhotīndrāṇī varuṇānī gandharvāṇy udakāny agnir jīvaputraḥ prajāpatir mahārājaḥ skando 'ryamā bhagaḥ prajānaka iti yām eva dvitīyāṃ rātriṃ kanyāṃ vivāhayiṣyan syāt tasyāṃ rātryām atīte niśākāle navāṃ sthālīm āhṛtya payasi sthālīpākaṃ śrapayitvā sarvagandhaiḥ phalottaraiḥ saśiraskāṃ snāpayitvāhatena vāsasā pracchādya sthālīpākasya juhoty agnaye somāya mitrāya varuṇāyendrāyodakāya bhagāyāryamṇe pūṣṇe tvaṣṭre rājñe prajāpataya iti etā eva devatāḥ puṃsaḥ kumbhaṃ vaiśravaṇam īśānaṃ ca yajeta catasro 'ṣṭau vāvidhavāḥ śākapiṇḍībhiḥ striyo 'nnena ca brāhmaṇān bhojayitvā vīṇāgāyibhiḥ saha saṃgāyeyur api vā caturo nartanaṃ kuryāt krīḍaṃ vaḥ śardho mārutam anarvāṇaṃ ratheśubhaṃ kaṇvā abhipragāyateti akṣatasaktūnām agniṃ puṣṭipatiṃ prajāpatiṃ ca yajeta agninā rayim aśnavat poṣam eva dive dive yaśasaṃ vīravattamam prajāpate na hi tvad anya iti ca sarvatrodvāhakarmasv anādiṣṭadevateṣv agniṃ puṣṭipatiṃ prajāpatiṃ ca yajeta atha prāsthānikam tasmin yathoktam upasamādhāya jayaprabhṛtibhir hutvā paścādbhaginī sicaṃ gṛhṇāti śastraṃ gṛhītvā pūṣā meti yānti yatrodakam śaṃ no devīr ity upaspṛśya prācī dig iti yānti yathādiśam ṣaḍ arghyārhā bhavanty ācārya ṛtvig rājā vivāhyaḥ priyaḥ snātaka iti athainam arhayanti ādau ca karmaṇaḥ arghyam udakaṃ sauṣadhaṃ darbhā iti kaṃse camase vā dadhy āsicya madhu ca varṣīyasāpidhāya viṣṭarābhyāṃ parigṛhya pādyaprathamaiḥ pratipadyante mayi doho 'si virājo dohaḥ pādyāyai virājo doham aśīyety āhriyamāṇam anumantrayate viṣṭaro 'si mātari sīdeti viṣṭaram āstīrya tasminn upaviśati viṣṭara āsīnāyaikaikaṃ triḥ prāha naiva bho ity āha na mārṣeti śaṃ no devīr ity apo 'bhimantrya pādyābhiḥ prakṣālayate dakṣiṇaṃ pādam avanenija idam aham asmin kule brahmavarcasaṃ dadhāmy uttaraṃ pādam avanenija idam ahaṃ mayi tejo vīryam annādyaṃ prajāṃ paśūn brahmavarcasaṃ dadhāmīti āpohiṣṭhīyābhir arghyaṃ parigṛhya sāvitreṇa madhuparkaṃ viṣṭaro 'sy antarikṣam adhi viśrayasveti viṣṭaram avakṛṣyoru tvety avasārya tac cakṣur ity avekṣya pṛthivyās tveti viṣṭare nidhāya madhu vāta ṛtāyata iti tisṛbhiḥ pradeśinyā pradakṣiṇam āloḍayati vasavas tvāgnirājāno bhakṣayantu pitaras tvā yamarājāno bhakṣayantu rudrās tvā somarājāno bhakṣayantv ādityās tvā varuṇarājāno bhakṣayantu viśve tvā devā bṛhaspatirājāno bhakṣayantv iti pradakṣiṇaṃ pratidiśaṃ pratimantraṃ pātrasyānteṣu lepān nimārṣṭi yan madhuno madhavyasya paramasyānnādyasya paramam annādyaṃ rūpaṃ tenāhaṃ madhuno madhavyasya paramasyānnādyasya paramo 'nnādo madhavyo bhūyāsaṃ trayyai vidyāyai yaśo 'si śriyai yaśo 'si yaśase brahmaṇo dīptir asi satyaśrīr yaśaḥ śrīr mayi śrīḥ śrīḥ śrayatām iti madhuparkasya catuṣ prāśnāty aṅguṣṭhadvitīyābhiḥ kaniṣṭhayā prathamam evam anupūrvaṃ sarvābhis tad avaśiṣṭaṃ suhṛde prayacchati ācāmaty amṛtopastaraṇam asīti tasmā asipāṇir gāṃ prāha tāṃ śāsti mama cāmuṣya ca pāpmānaṃ jahi hato me pāpmā pāpmānaṃ me hatoṃ kuruteti caturo nānāgotrān brāhmaṇān bhojayet eṣa ādya upāyaḥ yady utsṛjen mātā rudrāṇām iti japet mātā rudrāṇāṃ duhitā vasūnāṃ svasādityānām amṛtasya nābhiḥ pra ṇu vocaṃ cikituṣe janāya mā gām anāgām aditiṃ vadhiṣṭa sūyavasād bhagavatī hi bhūyā atho vayaṃ bhagavantaḥ syāma addhi tṛṇam aghnye viśvadānīṃ piba śuddham udakam ācarantī o3m utsṛjata tṛṇāny attv ity uktvā tām utsṛṣṭāṃ paśum aṅgaṃ vā nāmāṃso madhuparkaḥ syād iti ha vijñāyate api vā ghṛtaudana eva syāt anṛkṣarā ṛjavaḥ santu panthā yebhiḥ sakhāyo yanti no vareyam sam aryamā saṃ bhago no ninīyāt saṃ jāspatyaṃ suyamam astu devā ity udāhāraṃ prahiṇoti śamīśākhayā sapalāśayāpidhāyāharet etāsām evāpām udakārthān kurvīta śaṃ na āpo dhanvanyāḥ śaṃ naḥ santv anūpyāḥ śaṃ naḥ samudriyā āpaḥ śam u naḥ santu yā imā ity akevalābhir adbhiḥ snātāṃ yā akṛntan yā avayan yā atanvata yāś ca devīr antāṁ abhito 'dadanta tās tvā devīr jarasā saṃvyayantv āyuṣmatīdaṃ paridhatsva vāsa ity ahataṃ vāsaḥ paridhāpyāśāsānety antarato mauñjena dārbheṇa yoktreṇa vā saṃnahyati āśāsānā saumanasaṃ prajāṃ saubhāgyaṃ rayim agner anuvratā bhūtvā saṃnahye sukṛtāya kam preto muñcāmi nāmutaḥ subaddhām amutas karam yatheyam indra mīḍhvaḥ suputrā subhagāsati pūṣā tveto nayatu hastagṛhyāśvinau tvā pravahatāṃ rathena gṛhān gaccha gṛhapatnī yathāso vaśinī tvaṃ vidatham āvadāsi mā vidan paripanthino ya āsīdanti dampatī sugebhir durgam atītām apadrāntv arātaya iti udānīya uktaṃ vāsasaḥ karma ācārikāṇi tūṣṇīṃ nirmanthyaṃ bhrāṣṭrāt sāṃtapanaṃ yatradīpyamānaṃ vā bahir agnim upasamādhāya parisamūhya paryukṣya paristīryājyaṃ vilīnotpūtaṃ kṛtvāghārād ājyabhāgāntaṃ hutvāpareṇāgnim ano rathaṃ vāvasthāpya yoge yoga iti yunakti dakṣiṇam itaram uttarām itarām tūṣṇīṃ vimucya khe rathasya khe 'nasaḥ khe yugasya śatakrato apālām indras triṣ pūtvā karotu sūryavarcasam iti hiraṇyaṃ niṣṭarkyaṃ baddhvādhy adhi mūrdhani dakṣiṇasmin yugatardmany adbhir avakṣārayate śaṃ te hiraṇyam iti śaṃ te hiraṇyaṃ śam u santy āpaḥ śaṃ te methī bhavatu śaṃ yugasya tardma śaṃ ta āpaḥ śatapavitrā bhavantv enā patyā tanvā saṃsṛjasveti dakṣiṇataḥ pumān bhavati atha juhoty agnaye janivide svāhā somāya janivide svāhā gandharvāya janivide svāhā āyuṣaḥ prāṇam iti santanīr juhoti jayābhyātānān rāṣṭrabhṛtaś ca tāni yathoktam ādhipatyāni juhoti ākūtyā iti tribhis tvetyantaiḥ hiraṇyagarbha ity aṣṭābhiḥ pratyṛcam bhūḥ svāheti mahāvyāhṛtibhiś catasṛbhiḥ agna āyūṃṣīty āgnipāvamānībhiś ca tisṛbhiḥ hutvā hutvā kanyāyā mūrdhani saṃpātān avanayed yā te patighnī tanūr apatighnīṃ te tāṃ karomi svāhā yā te 'putriyā tanūḥ putriyāṃ te tāṃ karomi svāhā yā te 'paśavyā tanūḥ paśavyāṃ te tāṃ karomi svāheti tribhiḥ udag agner darbheṣu prācīm avasthāpya śuciḥ purastāt pratyaṅṅ upayantā devasya te savituḥ prasave 'śvinor bāhubhyāṃ pūṣṇo hastābhyāṃ hastaṃ gṛhṇāmīti hastaṃ gṛhṇāti dakṣiṇam uttānaṃ sāṅguṣṭhaṃ nīcāriktam ariktenaivaṃ savyaṃ savyena gṛbhṇāmīti catasro varaṃ vācayati gṛbhṇāmi te suprajāstvāya hastau mayā patyā jaradaṣṭir yathāsaḥ bhago aryamā savitā purandhir mahyaṃ tvādur gārhapatyāya devāḥ tāṃ pūṣañ śivatamām erayasva yasyāṃ bījaṃ manuṣyā vapanti yā na ūrū uśatī viśrayāte yasyām uśantaḥ praharāma śepam somo dadad gandharvāya gandharvo dadad agnaye rayiṃ ca putrāṃś cādād agnir mahyam atho imām somaḥ prathamo vivide gandharvo vivida uttaraḥ tṛtīyo agniṣ ṭe patis turīyo 'haṃ manuṣyaja iti tato gāthā vācayati sarasvati predam avety anuvākam ubhāv ity eke yadi pṛthak tantraṃ pradakṣiṇam agnim ānīya tatraivopaveśya saṃsthāpayet ekakarmaṇi tantra uttareṇāgniṃ pratyetya tato vivāhaḥ ya ime dyāvāpṛthivī ityādaya udvāhe homā jayaprabhṛtayaś ca naikakarmaṇi tantre sviṣṭakṛd ājyabhāgau ca paścād agner darbheṣu sā tvam asīti vācayati sā tvam asy amo 'ham amo 'ham asmi sā tvaṃ tā ehi vivahāvahai puṃse putrāya kartave rāyaspoṣāya suprajāstvāya suvīryāyeti agnim abhidakṣiṇam ānīyehy aśmānam iti varaṃ dakṣiṇena padāśmānam āsthāpayati ehy aśmānam ātiṣṭhāśmeva tvaṃ sthiro bhava kṛṇvantu viśve devā āyuṣ ṭe śaradaḥ śatam iti ātiṣṭhemam iti vadhūm ātiṣṭhemam aśmānam aśmeva tvaṃ sthirā bhava pramṛṇīhi duvasyavaḥ sahasva pṛtanyata iti ājyasyāñjalāv upastīryedaṃ havir ity abhimṛśyāthāsyai śamīlājān āvapati bhrātā brahmacārī vā tān avicchindatī juhoty aryamaṇaṃ nu devam iti aryamaṇaṃ nu devaṃ kanyā agnim ayakṣata so 'smān devo aryamā preto muñcātu māmuṣya gṛhebhyaḥ svāhā agnir mā janimān iti vācayati agnir mā janimān anayā janimantaṃ karotu jīvapatnir bhūyāsam iyaṃ nārīti sarvatrānuṣajati iyaṃ nāry upabrūte tokmāny āvapantikā dīrghāyur astu me patir edhantāṃ jñātayo mameti evaṃ dvir uttaram paryayaṇe paryayaṇe lājahomo yājamānaṃ cāśmānaṃ cāsthāpayati gandharvaṃ pativedanam iti gandharvaṃ pativedanaṃ kanyā agnim ayakṣata so 'smān devo gandharvaḥ preto muñcātu māmuṣya gṛhebhyaḥ svāhā somo mā jñātimān iti vācayati somo mā jñātimān anayā jñātimantaṃ karotu jīvapatnir bhūyāsam tryambakaṃ yajāmaha iti tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ patipoṣaṇam urvārukam iva bandhanān mṛtyor mukṣīya māmuṣya gṛhebhyaḥ svāhā pūṣā mā paśumān iti vācayati pūṣā mā paśumān anayā paśumantaṃ karotu jīvapatnir bhūyāsam varo dakṣiṇā tūṣṇīṃ hastau vimucya vi te muñcāmīti saṃnahanam uttarato 'gner darbheṣu prācīṃ prakrāmayaty ekam iṣe dve ūrje trīṇi rāyaspoṣāya catvāri mayobhavāya pañca prajābhyaḥ ṣaḍ ṛtubhyo dīrghāyutvāya saptamaṃ sakhā saptapadā bhava sumṛḍīkā savasvati mā te vyoma saṃdṛśe viṣṇus tvānvetv ity anuṣaṅgaḥ tac cakṣur ity ādityam upasthāpayati astamite 'gnim jīvantīṃ dhruvaṃ svastyātreyaṃ darśayaty arundhatīṃ ca eteṣām ekaikaṃ paśyasīty āha paśyāmīti pratyāha sumaṅgalīr iyaṃ vadhūr imāṃ sameta paśyata saubhāgyam asyai dattvāyāthāstaṃ viparetaneti vīkṣitān anumantrayate ud uttamam iti prāgudīcīm āvasathaṃ yatīm anumantrayate yato vā syāt ud uttamam ārohantī vyasyantī pṛtanyataḥ mūrdhānaṃ patyur āroha prajayā ca virāḍ bhava imāṃ tvam indra mīḍhvaḥ suputrāṃ subhagāṃ kṛṇu daśāsyāṃ putrān ādhehi patim ekādaśaṃ kṛdhi samrājñī śvaśure bhava samrājñī śvaśrvāṃ bhava nanāndari samrājñī bhava samrājñī adhi devṛṣu snuṣāṇāṃ śvaśurāṇāṃ ca prajāyāś ca dhanasya ca patīnāṃ devarāṇāṃ ca sajātānāṃ virāḍ bhaveti puṇyāhe yuṅkte yoge yoga iti yunakti aṅkanyaṅkā abhito rathaṃ ye dhvāntā vātāgram abhi ye saṃpatanti dūrehetiḥ patatriṇī vājinīvāṃs te no 'gnayaḥ pra pra yaḥ pārayantv iti cakre anumantrayate khe rathasya khe 'nasaḥ khe yugasya ca tardmasu khe akṣasya khe avadadhāmīti yugatardmasu śamīśākhām avadadhāti sukiṃśukaṃ śalmaliṃ viśvarūpaṃ hiraṇyavarṇaṃ suvṛtaṃ sucakram āroha sūrye amṛtasya yoniṃ syonaṃ patye vahatuṃ kṛṇuṣvety āropayate mā vidan paripanthinaḥ sumaṅgalīr iti ca pravāhayate saṃkāśayā vivahataṃ brahmaṇā gṛhair aghoreṇa cakṣuṣā maitreṇa paryāṇaddhaṃ viśvarūpaṃ yad asyāḥ syonaṃ patibhyaḥ savitā kṛṇotu tad iti vadhūsaṃgame ye pathīnām iti catuṣpatheṣu japatīme catvāra iti ca ye śmaśāneṣv iti śmaśāneṣu ye śmaśāneṣu puṇyajanāḥ śāvās teṣu śerate atraiva te ramantāṃ mā vadhūr anvavekṣateti ye vaneṣv iti mahāvanaṃ mahāvṛkṣaṃ dṛṣṭvā iha raḍir iti krūraṃ dṛṣṭvā namo astu sarpebhya iti sarpān ye tīrthānīti tīrthe tā mandasāneti ca tā mandasānā manuṣo duroṇa ā dhattaṃ rayiṃ sahavīraṃ vacasyave kṛtaṃ tīrthaṃ supramāṇaṃ śubhaspatī sthāṇuṃ patheṣṭhām apa durmatiṃ hatam ayaṃ no mahyāḥ pāraṃ svasti neṣad vanaspatiḥ sīrā naḥ sutarā bhava dīrghāyutvāya varcase aśmanvatī rīyate saṃrabhadhvam uttiṣṭhata pracaratā sakhāyaḥ atrā jahāma ye āsann aśevāḥ śivān vayam uttaremābhi vājān iti śaṃ na iti nadīṃ tarati ya ṛta iti rathāṅge 'vaśīrṇe ya ṛte cid abhiśriṣaḥ purā jatrubhya ātṛdaḥ saṃdhātā sandhiṃ maghavā purūvasur niṣkartāvihrutaṃ punar iti aparāhṇe 'dhivṛkṣasūrye gṛhān upayāyorjaṃ bibhratīti gṛhān pratidṛśya japati ūrjaṃ bibhratī vasuvaniḥ sumedhā gṛhān āgāṃ modamānā suvarcāḥ aghoreṇa cakṣuṣāhaṃ maitreṇa gṛhāṇāṃ paśyantī vaya uttirāmi gṛhāṇām āyuḥ pra vayaṃ tirāma gṛhā asmākaṃ pratirantv āyuḥ gṛhān ahaṃ sumanasaḥ prapadye vīraghnī vīrapatiḥ suśevā irāṃ vahato ghṛtam ukṣamāṇāṃs teṣv ahaṃ sumanāḥ saṃviśāmi yeṣāṃ madhye 'dhipravasann eti saumanasaṃ bahu gṛhān upahvayāmahe te no jānantu jānataḥ sūnṛtāvantaḥ svadhāvanta irāvanto ha sāmadāḥ akṣudhyā atṛṣyā gṛhā māsmad bibhetana upahūtā iha gāva upahūtā ajāvayaḥ atho annasya kīlāla upahūto gṛheṣu me upahūtā bhūridhanāḥ sakhāyaḥ sādhusaṃmadāḥ ariṣṭāḥ sarvapuruṣā gṛhā naḥ santu sarvadeti ulaparājīṃ stṛṇāty ā śayanīyāt tayā praviśati adhyāhitāgniṃ sodakaṃ sauṣadham āvasathaṃ pratipadyate rohiṇyā mūlena vā yad vā puṇyoktam apareṇāgnim ānaḍuhe rohite carmaṇy upaviśyāpi vā darbheṣv eva jayaprabhṛtibhir hutvāgnir aitu prathama iti ca agnir aitu prathamo devatānāṃ so 'syāḥ prajāṃ nayatu sarvam āyuḥ tad ayaṃ rājā varuṇo 'numanyatāṃ yatheyaṃ strī pautram aghaṃ nirundhyāt svāhā agnir imāṃ trāyatāṃ gārhapatyaḥ so 'syāḥ prajāṃ muñcatu mṛtyupāśāt ariktopasthā jīvatām astu mātā pautram ānandam abhivibudhyatāṃ iyaṃ svāhā mā te gṛhe niśi ghora utthād anyatra tvad rudatyaḥ saṃviśantu jīvaputrā patiloke virāja paśyantī prajāṃ sumanasyamānāṃ svāhā mā te kumāraḥ stanadhaḥ pramāyi mā tvaṃ vikeśy ura āvadhiṣṭhāḥ stanaṃ dhayantaṃ savitābhirakṣatv ā vāsasaḥ paridhānād bṛhaspatir viśve devā abhirakṣantu nityaṃ svāhā agne prāyaścitte tvaṃ devānāṃ prāyaścittir asi yāsyāṃ bhṛśā tanūs tām asyā nāśaya svāhā vāyo prāyaścitte sūrya prāyaścitte candra prāyaścitte viṣṇo prāyaścitte viṣṇo prāyaścitte candra prāyaścitte sūrya prāyaścitte vāyo prāyaścitte agne prāyaścitte tvaṃ devānāṃ prāyaścittir asi yāsyāṃ bhṛśā tanūs tām asyā nāśaya svāhā tryāyuṣaṃ jamadagneḥ kaśyapasya tryāyuṣam yad devānāṃ tryāyuṣaṃ tan me astu tryāyuṣam iti ājyasyaikadeśe dadhy āsicya dadhikrāvṇa iti trir dadhi bhakṣayitvā māṇavakāyotsaṅga iḍām agna iti phalāni pradadāti tūṣṇīm upacaritaṃ sthālīpākaṃ śrapayitvā tasyāgnim iṣṭvā prajāpatiṃ ca śeṣaṃ prāśnītaḥ annam eva vivananam annaṃ saṃvananaṃ smṛtam annaṃ paśūnāṃ prāṇo 'nnaṃ jyeṣṭhaṃ bhiṣak smṛtam annamayena maṇinā prāṇasūtreṇa pṛśninā sinomi satyagranthinā hṛdayaṃ ca manaś ca te saha vācā mano astu saha cittaṃ saha vratam cakram ivānaḍuhaḥ padaṃ mām evānvetu te manaḥ māṃ caiva paśya sūryaṃ ca mā cānyeṣu manaḥ kṛthāḥ cākravākaṃ saṃvananaṃ mama cāmuṣyāś ca bhūyād iti saṃvatsaraṃ brahmacaryaṃ carato dvādaśa rātrīḥ ṣaṭ tisra ekāṃ vā tau saṃviśataḥ apaśyaṃ tvā manasā cekitānaṃ tapaso jātaṃ tapaso vibhūtam iha prajām iha rayiṃ rarāṇaḥ prajāyasva prajayā putrakāma apaśyaṃ tvā manasā dīdhyānāṃ svāyāṃ tanū ṛddhyai nādhamānām upa mām uccā yuvatir babhūyāḥ prajāyasva prajayā putrakāme prajāpate tanvaṃ me juṣasva tvaṣṭar devebhiḥ sahasā na indraḥ viśvair devair yajñiyaiḥ saṃvidānaḥ puṃsāṃ bahūnāṃ mātaraḥ syāma ahaṃ garbham ādadhāmy oṣadhīṣv ahaṃ viśveṣu bhuvaneṣv antaḥ ahaṃ prajā ajanayaṃ pṛthivyām ahaṃ janibhyo avarīṣu putrān iti stryādivyatyāsaṃ japataḥ evam evartau prajākāmau saṃviśataḥ karad iti bhasadam abhimṛśati bhasad ity uparijananam bṛhad iti jātam iti garbhādhānam tṛtīye garbha māse sīmantam kārayate śuddha pakṣasya puṇya ahe parvaṇi _ yathoktam upasamādhāya jaya prabhṛtibhiḥ hutvā paścāt agneḥ darbheṣu prāñc āsīnāyāḥ sarvān keśān sampramucya prasādhayate yam sīmantam iti yaṃ sīmantaṃ kaṅkatas te cakāra yad vā kṣuraḥ parivavarja vapaṃs te strīṣu rūpam aśvinau taṃ nidhattaṃ pauṃsyenemaṃ saṃsṛjataṃ vīryeṇa indrāṇī cakre kaṅkataṃ sa sīmantaṃ visarpatu punaḥ patibhyo jāyāṃ dā agne prajayā saha punaḥ patnīm agnir adād āyuṣā saha varcasā dīrghāyur asyā yaḥ patir jīvāti śaradaḥ śatam iti tris śyetayā śalalyā śamī śākhayā sa palāśayā _ sīmantam vicinoti yāḥ te rāke iti atha asyāḥ pṛthak keśapakṣau saṃnahyati nīlalohitena sūtreṇa nīlalohitam bhavati kṛtyā āsaktiḥ vyajyate edhante asyā jñātayaḥ patir bandheṣu badhyatām iti yaḥ guruḥ tam arhayet etat eva kumārīṇām saṭā uddharaṇam atra eva anulepanam atha puṃsavanam bhūyiṣṭhagateṣu garbhamāseṣu trīn sthālīpākāñ śrapayed āgneyam aindraṃ vaiṣṇavaṃ ca teṣāṃ yathādevataṃ juhoti agnis tuviśravastamam indra kṣatraṃ pra tad viṣṇuḥ pumān ity abhijuhoti pumān agniḥ pumān indraḥ pumān viṣṇur ajāyata pumāṃsaṃ janayet putraṃ daśame māsi sūtave yena jātena vibhunā jīvema śaradaḥ śataṃ paśyema śaradaḥ śatam iti taṃ no maṃhasva śatinaṃ sahasriṇaṃ gosanim aśvasaniṃ vīraṃ svāhā atha soṣyantīsavanam vijaniṣyamāṇāyā adbhiḥ pāṇiṃ sravantaṃ śirasy ādhāyā hṛdayād abhimṛśed yathāyaṃ vātaḥ pavate yathā samudra ejati evaṃ te garbha ejatu saha jarāyuṇāvapadyatām iti kṣipram eva prajāyate putre jāte nāma dhīyate ghoṣavadādy antarantasthaṃ caturakṣaram yathopapatti vā agnim atrānīya tasminn ājyabhāgāntaṃ hutvā sahiraṇyakāṃsye saṃpātān avanayed dhiraṇyagarbhaḥ saṃvatsarasya pratimāṃ kāya svāhā kasmai svāhā katamasmai svāhā prajāpataye svāhā prajāpate nahi tvad anya iti ca dvābhyām agner āyur asīti hiraṇyena mukhaṃ medhyaṃ kṛtvā pāṇinā mukham adbhiḥ saṃspṛśya prakṣālya stanāv anumantrayate madhu vāta ṛtāyata iti tisṛbhiḥ pratyṛcam ubhā uttamayā hiraṇyena saṃpātān saṃnighṛṣya madhu cety eke tanmukhe kṛtvā prapāyayaty āyur dhaya jarāṃ dhaya satyaṃ dhaya śriyaṃ dhayorjaṃ dhaya rāyaspoṣaṃ dhaya brahmavarcasaṃ dhaya jīva śaradaḥ śataṃ paśya śaradaḥ śatam iti mūrdhani nighrāpya svastyayanaṃ vācayati sarṣapān phalīkaraṇamiśrān darvyā juhoti śaṇḍo markopavītas tauṇḍuleyaḥ ulūkhalaś capalo naśyatām itaḥ svāhā anālikhann avalikhan kiṃvadanta ulūkhalaś capalo naśyatām itaḥ svāhā haryakṣṇaḥ kumbhiḥ śaktir hantā cupaṇīmukhaś capalo naśyatām itaḥ svāhā keśinī śvalominī kavakeśāvakāśiny apeto naśyatām itaḥ svāhā evaṃ sāyaṃprātar daśāhaṃ juhuyāt daśamyāṃ tasminn evāgnau payasi sthālīpākaṃ śrapayitvā sarvagandhaiḥ phalottaraiḥ saśiraskaṃ snāpayitvāhatena vāsasā pracchādya sthālīpākasya juhoti kayā naś citra iti dvābhyāṃ kayā tac chṛṇve prajāpataye svāhā prajāpataye nahi tvad anya iti ca dvābhyām agner āyur asīti tulyam ā lalāṭābhimarśanāt tad eva nāma dhīyate anyad ity eke prāk sviṣṭakṛtaḥ kāṃsye pūtam ājyam āsicya hiraṇyaṃ cābandhanīyam agner āyur ity avadhāya tasya juhotīndrasya prāṇa iti pañcabhiḥ prāk saṃsthitayajuṣo brahmā ghṛte hiraṇyam avapadyate sarve ca ṛtvijo yad asarpa iti pāvamānenety uddhṛtya devā āyuṣmanta iti yajamānāya prayacchati tat pibati niravadhayeddhiraṇyād ghṛtam prakṣālyemam agna iti hiraṇyam ābadhnāti tasya lalāṭam abhimṛśyāśvinoḥ prāṇa iti japati aṅgād aṅgāt sambhavasi hṛdayād abhi jāyase ātmā vai putranāmāsi jīva śaradaḥ śataṃ paśya śaradaḥ śatam iti mūrdhani nighrāpya svastyayanaṃ vācayati evam ata ūrdhvaṃ viproṣyaivaṃ māsi māsi sthālīpākasyeṣṭvā jātakarmaṇā vājyasyaivaṃ saṃvatsaram māṃsaṃ tu nāśnītaḥ samāpte saṃvatsare 'jāvibhyāṃ vāgnidhānvantarī iṣṭvā sarpiṣmad annaṃ brāhmaṇān bhojayet tṛtīye 'rdhamāse darśanam ādityasya puṇyāhe parvaṇi vodite tv āditye rathacakramātraṃ sthaṇḍilam upalipya tasmin yathoktam upasamādhāya jayaprabhṛtibhir hutvā taraṇir divo rukma ud u tyaṃ citraṃ devānām ity ājyasya juhoti mitro janān pra sa mitreti sthālīpākasya abhyāvartasveti kumāram abhyudānayanti draṣṭre nama ity upasthānam ādityasyādṛśrann asyeti ca sarpiṣmad annaṃ brāhmaṇān bhojayet evaṃ candradarśanam makṣū dhātā bhūyo jāta iti dvābhyām ājyena caturgṛhītenājyabhāgānte juhoti āpyāyasva saṃ te payāṃsīti dvābhyāṃ sthālīpākasya navo nava ity upasthānam prakāśo dakṣiṇā ṣaṣṭhe māse 'nnaprāśanaṃ danteṣu vā jāteṣu sarvāṇi haviṣyānnāni saṃyūya āyurdā deva ghṛtapratīka iti hutvānnapate annasyety etayaiva kumāram annaṃ prāśayet tṛtīyasya varṣasya bhūyiṣṭhagate cūḍāḥ kārayate dakṣiṇataḥ kapujā vasiṣṭhānām ubhayato 'trikaśyapānām muṇḍā bhṛgavaḥ pañcacūḍā aṅgirasaḥ vājim eke maṅgalārthaṃ śikhino 'nye yathākuladharmaṃ vā śuddhapakṣasya puṇyāhe parvaṇi vā yathoktam upasamādhāya jayaprabhṛtibhir hutvā āyam agāt savitā kṣureṇoṣṇena vāya udakena ehi ādityā rudrā vasavaḥ sacetasaḥ somasya rājño vapata pracetasa ity uṣṇā apo 'bhimantrayate uṣṇāś ca śītāś ca sametya sarvā bṛhaspatiḥ savitā satyadharmā tad anumanyatām ārdradānava ity abhyundet ārdradānavaḥ stha jīvadānavaḥ sthondatīr ihainam avatāpa undantu jīvase dīrghāyutvāya varcasa iti dakṣiṇe keśānta oṣadhe trāyasveti darbham antardhāya svadhita iti kṣureṇābhinidhāya yenāvapat savitā kṣureṇa somasya rājño varuṇasya vidvān tena brahmāṇo vapatedam adyāyuṣmāñ jaradaṣṭir yathāsad ayam asau yena dhātā bṛhaspater agner indrasya cāyuṣe 'vapat tenāsyāyuṣe vapa suślokyāya svastaye yena pūṣā prajāpater agneḥ sūryasya cāyuṣe 'vapat tenāsyāyuṣe vapa suślokyāya svastaye yena bhūyaś ca rātrī jyok paśyā ca sūryam tenāsyāyuṣe vapa suślokyāya svastaya iti pradakṣiṇaṃ pratidiśaṃ pratimantraṃ darbhakṣurakarma yat kṣureṇa vartayatā supeśasā vaptar vapasi keśān śunddhi śiro māsyāyuḥ pramoṣīr iti lauhāyasaṃ kṣuraṃ keśavāpāya prayacchati mā te keśān anugāt teja etat tathā dhātā dadhātu te tubhyam indro bṛhaspatiḥ savitā varca ādadhur iti prapatato 'numantrayate suhṛtparigrāhyān upyamānān haritagomaye samavacinoti uptvāya rājño varuṇasya keśān somo dhātā savitā viṣṇur agniḥ tebhyo nidhānaṃ bahudhānvavindann antarā dyāvāpṛthivī avasyur iti prāgudīcīṃ hriyamāṇān anumantrayate arikte paryāśreṣayata iti śrutiḥ kartre varaṃ dadāti pakṣmaguṇaṃ tilapeśalaṃ keśavāpāya prayacchati sarpiṣmad annaṃ brāhmaṇān bhojayet saptame varṣe brāhmaṇasyopāyanam navame rājanyasya ekādaśe vaiśyasya ā ṣoḍaśād brāhmaṇasyānatikrama ā dvāviṃśād rājanyasyā caturviṃśād vaiśyasya snātoptakeśe yathoktam upasamādhāya jayaprabhṛtibhir hutvā revatīs tvā vyakṣṇan kṛttikāś cakratus tvāpasas tvā vyatanvata dhiyo 'vayann ava gnā amṛjan sahasram antāṁ abhito 'dadantāśītīr madhyam avayan nu nārīr ity ahataṃ vāso 'bhimantrayate devīr devāya paridhe savitre paridhatta varcasa imaṃ śatāyuṣaṃ kṛṇuta jīvase kam iti paridhāpayati jarāṃ gaccha paridhatsva vāso 'bhūr āpīvān abhiśastipāvā śataṃ ca jīva śaradaḥ purūcī rāyaś ca poṣam upasaṃvyayasva parīmaṃ somaṃ tejase mahe śrotrāya dadhmasi yathainaṃ jarasaṃ nayaj jyok śrotrāya jāgaraj jyok śrotre 'dhi jāgarad iti brāhmaṇasya parīmam indram ojase mahe kṣatrāya dadhmasi yathainaṃ jarasaṃ nayaj jyok kṣatrāya jāgaraj jyok kṣatre 'dhi jāgarad iti rājanyasya parīmaṃ manum āyuṣe mahe poṣāya dadhmasi yathainaṃ jarasaṃ nayaj jyok poṣāya jāgaraj jyok poṣe 'dhi jāgarad iti vaiśyasya parīdaṃ vāso'dhithāḥ svastaye bhavāpīvān abhiśastipāvā śataṃ ca jīva śaradaḥ suvīro vasūni cogro vibhajasva jīvann iti parihitavāsasam anumantrayate yoge yoge yuvā suvāsā iti caitābhyām agnim abhidakṣiṇam ānīyehy aśmānam ātiṣṭhāśmeva tvaṃ sthiro bhava kṛṇvantu viśve devā āyuṣ ṭe śaradaḥ śatam iti dakṣiṇena padāśmānam āsthāpayati mama vrate hṛdayaṃ te dadāmi mama cittam anu cittaṃ te astu mama vācam ekavrato juṣasva bṛhaspatis tvā niyunaktu mahyam iti nābhideśād ūrdhvaṃ pāṇinonmārṣṭi dadhikrāvṇa iti trir dadhi bhakṣayitvā brahmacaryam āgām upa mā nayasvoṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svar iti vācayati iyaṃ duruktāt paribādhamānā varṇaṃ pavitraṃ punatī ma āgāt prāṇāpānābhyāṃ balam ābhajantī sukhā devī subhagā mekhaleyam ṛtasya goptrī tapastarutrī ghnatī rakṣaḥ sahamānā arātim sā naḥ samantam anuparehi bhadre bhartāras te mekhale mā riṣāma śraddhāyā duhitā tapaso 'dhi jātā svasarṣīṇāṃ mantrakṛtāṃ babhūva sā mā mekhale parirerihasva mayi dhehi tapa indriyaṃ ceti vācayan mekhalām ābadhnīte mauñjīṃ trivṛtaṃ brāhmaṇāya prayacchati maurvīṃ dhanurjyāṃ rājanyāya sautrīṃ vaiśyāya cittasya samo 'si daivyo granthir asi mā visraṃsa iti granthiṃ kṛtvā mitrasya cakṣur dharuṇaṃ balāya tejo yaśasvi sthaviraṃ samṛddham anāhanasyaṃ vasanaṃ cariṣṇu parīdaṃ vājy ajinaṃ dadhe 'yam iti vācayann aiṇeyaṃ carma brāhmaṇāya prayacchati vaiyāghraṃ rājanyāya rauravaṃ vaiśyāya tac cakṣur ity ādityam upasthāpayati ko nāmāsīty ukte 'bhivādane prokte 'sā ahaṃ bho iti pratyāha devasya te savitu prasave 'śvinor bāhubhyāṃ pūṣṇo hastābhyāṃ hastaṃ gṛhṇāmy asā upanaye 'sau savitā te hastam agrahīd agnir ācāryas tava kas tvā kam upanaye 'sau kāya tvā paridadāmi kasya brahmacāry asi prāṇasya brahmacāry asmīti pratyāha prajāpataye tvā paridadāmi devāya tvā savitre paridadāmi bṛhaspataye tvā paridadāmy asau deva savitar eṣa te brahmacārī taṃ gopāyasva dīrghāyuḥ sa mā mṛta agniputraiṣa te vāyuputraiṣa te sūryaputraiṣa te viṣṇuputraiṣa te brahmaputraiṣa te brahmacārī taṃ gopāyasva dīrghāyuḥ sa mā mṛta brahmacāry asi apo 'śāna karma kuru divā mā suṣupsīḥ vācaṃ yaccha medhāṃ mahyam iti vācayati medhāṃ mahyam aṅgiraso medhāṃ saptarṣayo daduḥ medhām agniś ca vāyuś ca medhāṃ dhātā dadātu me medhāṃ me varuṇo rājā medhām agnir dadātu me medhām indraś ca sūryaś ca medhāṃ devī sarasvatī yā medhā apsaraḥsu gandharveṣu ca yan manaḥ daivī manuṣye yā medhā sā mām āviśatād iha śarīraṃ me vicakṣaṇaṃ vāṅ me madhumad duhe niśāmitaṃ niśāmaye mayi śrutam yan me 'nūktaṃ tad ramatāṃ śakeyaṃ yad anubruve priyāḥ śrutasya bhūyāsma medhayā saṃvidhīmahi avṛdham aham avṛdhas tvam asau somya prāṇas tvaṃ me gopāya brahmaṇa āṇī stha śrutaṃ me mā prahāsīd iti etābhir eva catasṛbhir anupravacanīyāñ juhuyād yajuṣottamāṃ chandobhyaḥ svāheti kratunāmadheyena yathopācaritaḥ kratur bhavaty evaṃ sarvāṇi vedoktāni paścād agner darbheṣu prāṅ āsīnaḥ pratyaṅṅ āsīnāya tat savitur iti sāvitrīṃ trir anvāha paccho 'rdharcaśaḥ sarvām antato yaś ca medhākāmaḥ syāt pālāśam ekasaraṃ daṇḍaṃ navanītenābhyajya tasya chāyāyāṃ vācayati suśravaḥ suśravā asi yathā tvaṃ suśravā asy evaṃ mā suśravaḥ sauśravasaṃ kuru yathā tvaṃ suśravo devānāṃ vedasya nidhigopo 'sy evam ahaṃ brāhmaṇānāṃ brahmaṇo vedasya nidhigopo bhūyāsam iti pālāśaṃ daṇḍaṃ brāhmaṇāya prayacchaty āśvatthaṃ rājanyāya naiyagrodhaṃ vaiśyāya smṛtaṃ ca ma iti vācayati smṛtaṃ ca me 'smṛtaṃ ca me tan me ubhayavratam nindā ca me anindā ca me tan me ubhayavratam vidyā ca me avidyā ca me tan me ubhayavratam śraddhā ca me aśraddhā ca me tan me ubhayavratam satyaṃ ca me anṛtaṃ ca me tan me ubhayavratam mṛtaṃ ca me amṛtaṃ ca me tan me ubhayavratam śrutaṃ ca me aśrutaṃ ca me tan me ubhayavratam vrataṃ ca me avrataṃ ca me tan me ubhayavratam yad brāhmaṇasya brahmaṇi vrataṃ yad agneḥ sendrasya saprajāpatikasya sarṣikasya sapitṛkasya samanuṣyasya samanuṣyarājanyasya sagandharvāpsarojanaskasya sasarpetarajanaskasya sauṣadhivanaspatikasya saha grāmyaiḥ paśubhir āraṇyaiś ca sākāśasya saprakāśasya sātīkāśasya sānūkāśasya saha yan ma ātmana ātmani vrataṃ tan me sarvavratam idam aham agnau samidham abhyādadhāmy agne sarvavrato bhavāmi adhīte haiteṣāṃ vedānām ekaṃ dvau trīn sarvān vā yam evaṃ vidvān upanayata iti śrutiḥ kartre varaṃ dadāti ahaḥśeṣaṃ sthāpayet vyākhyātaṃ brahmacaryam traividyakam ācāryasya vidhiḥ yo vedam adhīte purastāc copariṣṭāc cāṃhomugbhiḥ samidho 'bhyādadhyāt uktaṃ vratopāyanavimocanam athātaś cāturhautṛkam brahmacārikalpena vratam upaiti saṃvatsaram aṣṭau māsāṃś caturo māsān vā śuddhapakṣasya puṇyāhe parvaṇi vā yathoktam upasamādhāya jayaprabhṛtibhir hutvā pūrveṇāgniṃ darbhastambhaṃ nihatya brāhmaṇaṃ dakṣiṇata upaveśya hiraṇyavarṇā iti catasṛbhiḥ samidho 'bhyādadhyāt nitye vratopāyane brāhmaṇā vratapataya iti caturtham atha vratahomāṃś caturgṛhītaiś caturhotṛbhir ājyena tejaskāmo yāvakena paśukāmo 'nnādyena vīryakāmaḥ payasi sthālīpākaṃ śrapayitvā brahmavarcasakāmaḥ manasaikaikaṃ hutam anumantrayate yad vedavrataṃ tad atra vratam vikārān anukramiṣyāmo na caturbhiḥ sahāsīta na caturṇāṃ samakṣaṃ bhuñjīta na caturbhiḥ saha bhuñjītaikatamo vā evam apavarge vāsa ācāryāya dadāti varaṃ dakṣiṇata āsīnāya ṣoḍaśe varṣe godānam agnau vā samāpte tad vyākhyātaṃ jātakarmaṇā darbheṣv āsīnaṃ darbhān adhy adhikṛtya hiraṇyaṃ cābhiṣiñcaty agnikībhir vā rājasūyikībhir vā yā āpo divyā iti dvābhyām evaṃ rājānaṃ sāvīr hi deveti cānuvākena yathoktam akratv ajyānim athaikāgneḥ samādhānam parameṣṭhimaraṇe putrasyāgnisamādhānam sarvān upavāsayet tam agniṃ prajvālayed ākālam upavyuṣam māṣakaṇamanthenaudumbareṇa kaṃsenāgniṃ śamayet hiraṇyapāṇiṃ savitāraṃ vāyum indraṃ prajāpatim devāṁ aṅgiraso havāmaha imaṃ kravyādaṃ śamayantv agnim iti kāśānām ūte kaṭe bhasma samopya prasthāpayet kravyādam agniṃ prahiṇomi dūraṃ yamarājño gacchatu ripravāhaḥ ihaivāyam itaro jātavedā devebhyo havyaṃ vahatu prajānann iti nirdagdham iti dakṣiṇāparasyāṃ diśi catuṣpathe nidhāyopadhānaṃ sīsaṃ ca tasminn adhy adhimārjayante sīse malimlucāmahe śīrṣṇā copabarhaṇe kravyādaḥ samayā mṛṣṭvā taṃ preta sudānava iti apāsmad etv iti catasṛbhir upasthāya śaṃ no devīr ity upaspṛśya pratīpam āyantaḥ padāni lobhayante naḍair vetasaśākhayā vā mṛtyoḥ padaṃ lobhayanta iti mṛtyoḥ padaṃ lobhayanto yadīmo drāghīya āyuḥ prataraṃ dadhānāḥ āpyāyamānāḥ prajayā dhanena śuddhāḥ pūtā bhavata yajñiyāsa iti atraiva śākhāṃ nidadhyuḥ anaḍvāhaṃ puraskṛtya vrajanty anaḍvāhaṃ plavam iti anaḍvāhaṃ plavam anvārabhadhvaṃ sa vo nirvakṣad duritāni viśvā ārohata savitur nāvaṃ hiraṇmayīṃ ṣaḍbhir ūrmibhir amṛtatvaṃ taremeti pratyāgatān akṣatadhūmam upasparśya gavāgninā ca pradakṣiṇam agniṃ triḥ pariyanti parīme gām aneṣateti parīme gām aneṣata pary agnim ahṛṣata deveṣv akrata śravaḥ ka imāṁ ādadharṣatīti udapātre 'śmānaṃ hiraṇyaṃ cāvadhāyāthainān abhimarśayante 'śmanvatīr iti aśmanvatī rīyate saṃrabhadhvam uttiṣṭhata pracaratā sakhāyaḥ atrā jahāma ye asann aśevāḥ śivān vayam uttaremābhi vājān iti śucir bhūtaḥ pitṛbhyo dadyāt aupavastraṃ bhuktvā kutaś cid agnim ānīya taṃ jāgarayītopaśayīta ca upakāśa upaśānte bhasmoddhṛtya pārthivān saṃbhārān pūrvayā nyupya uttarayā vyūhya tam apareṇa yathotpāditam utpādya jānudaghnaṃ dhārayitvādadhāti bhūr bhuvar aṅgirasām iti pūrveṇa sugārhapatya iti ca sugārhapatyo vinudann arātīr uṣām uṣāṃ śreyasīṃ śreyasīṃ naḥ dīrghāyutvāya śataśāradāyādhīyasva mahate saubhagāyeti sahiraṇyā vānaspatyāḥ samidha ādhāya tulyena pūrṇāhutī hutvāgneyena sthālīpākena paśunā vā yajeta gaur vāsaḥ kaṃso hiraṇyaṃ ca dakṣiṇā eṣa aupasado 'gnir vaivāhano vā tasmin pākayajñāḥ teṣām uktam upasamādhānam yathācaritaṃ ca pavitrasaṃskaraṇājyanirvapaṇagrahaṇādhiśrayaṇotpavanam avekṣaṇaṃ ca prāg ājyabhāgābhyām uktā āghārau yuktaḥ purastād iti pañcabhir ājyasya juhoti āyuṣaḥ prāṇam iti santanīr juhoti jayābhyātānān rāṣṭrabhṛtaś ca vārtrāghnāv ājyabhāgau sviṣṭakṛdājyabhāgā antareṇāvāpaḥ nāmadheyena devatāṃ yajeta tad devatayā varcāgneyīṃ vohed agnīṣomīyām aindrāgnīṃ vā dvidevateṣu vaiśvadevīṃ bahudevateṣu ṛtutithinakṣatradevatāś ca yajeta prāk sviṣṭakṛta upahoma iha gāvo 'yaṃ yajña ā naḥ prajāṃ dhūrbhir upadhūrbhiś ca hutveḍām agna iti sviṣṭakṛtam tvaṃ no agna iti dvābhyāṃ juhuyād ayā bhūr iti ca sarvaprāyaścittāni mano jyotir iti saptabhiḥ paristaraṇāny anupraharen nānuprahared ity eke evaṃ sarvā devatāś cejyāni ca ṣaḍāhutaṃ pratipadi putrakāmo brahmaṇāgniḥ saṃvidāna iti ṣaḍbhir ājyasya juhoty uttarābhiḥ ṣaḍbhiḥ sthālīpākasya sauviṣṭakṛte trayodaśīm nakṣatrayajñeṣu nakṣatradevatānām ṛcas tābhir yajeta agnir mūrdhā hiraṇyagarbho maruto yan mṛḍā no rudra sutrāmāṇaṃ tava śriye namo astu sarpebhya āhaṃ pitṝn sadā sugo ye te aryamaṃs tat savitur ya ime dyāvāpṛthivī vāyur agregā indrāgnī rocanā mitro janān indraḥ sutrāmā yaṃ te devī śaṃ no devīr viśve devā brahma jajñānaṃ vaṣaṭ te viṣṇa ā me gṛhā imaṃ me varuṇopaprāgād ahir iva bhogaiḥ pūṣā gā anvetu naḥ pra vāṃ daṃsāṃsi yamo dādhāreti pratyṛcam athopahāraḥ yathācaritam annaṃ sādhayitvā sāvitreṇa devatāyai baliṃ haret yathācāraṃ japaḥ uktaḥ śeṣaḥ atha paśu kalpaḥ uktaḥ pūrveṇa śākhāṃ nihatya tasmin tūṣṇīm sarvam yat na lupta artham devatā homa varjam prāk ājyabhāgābhyām darbheṇa paśum upākaroti prokṣati pāyayati paryagnim karoti ghṛtam avaghrāpya apāvyāḥ juhoti ulmukam harati darbham āstṛṇāti tasmin yathoktam saṃjñāpayanti saṃjñapte yathoktam adbhiḥ prāṇa āyatanāni snāpayati utkhidya vapām śākhām viśākhām ca pracchādya carame aṅgāre vapām nigṛhya antarā śākhā agnī hṛtvā abhighārya śrapayati śṛtām darbheṣu udak agreṣu nidhāya ājyabhāga parivapyau hutvā vapām devatāyai upanāmayet upya parivapyau hutvā sa darbhe vapāśrapaṇyau agnau anuprahṛtya āpohiṣṭhīyābhiḥ mārjayitvā uktāni avadānāni prāk sviṣṭakṛtaḥ devatāyai balim haret yathācāram japaḥ uktaḥ śeṣaḥ atha śūlagavaḥ sarvebhyaḥ kāmebhyaḥ śaradi vasante vā aniyamaḥ syād ity eke gavāṃ madhya uttarato grāmasya vedyākṛtiṃ kṛtvā śākhābhiḥ parivāryātaṣṭaṃ yūpaṃ tūṣṇīm ucchrayanti tam apareṇa yathoktam upasamādhāya jayaprabhṛtibhir hutvā bhavāya śarvāyeśānāyeśvarāya paśupataye 'dhipataya iti gām upākaroti paśuṃ vā pratināma pratidravyaṃ pratyanuvākam iti ṣaṭ puroḍāśān ekakapālāṃs tūṣṇīm upacaritāñ śrapayitvā prāk sviṣṭakṛtaḥ ṣaḍ lohitabalīn pātreṣu darbheṣu vā kalpayitvā namas te rudra manyava iti ṣaḍbhir anuvākair upatiṣṭhata īśānaṃ tvā śuśrumeti ca sarvatrānuṣajati prabhūtān brāhmaṇān bhojayanti nāpakvaṃ grāmaṃ praveśayanti śiṣṭaṃ bhūmāv arpayanti sacarma anapekṣamāṇā āyānti aupasade 'gnau sāyaṃ prātar agnihotradevatābhyo juhuyāt parvaṇi bhāryām upavāsya darśapūrṇamāsadevatābhyo juhuyāt navasyāgrāyaṇadevatābhyo 'jyānībhir abhijuhuyāt sviṣṭakṛdanumantraṇam uktaṃ prāśanaṃ ca vaiśvadevasya siddhasya sarvato 'gryasya juhoty agnaye somāya mitrāya varuṇāyendrāyendrāgnibhyāṃ viśvebhyo devebhyaḥ prajāpataye 'numatyai dhānvantaraye vāstoṣpataye 'gnaye sviṣṭakṛte ca takṣopatakṣābhyām ity abhitaḥ pūrveṇāgnim ambā nāmāsīti sapta gṛhyābhyo nandini subhage sumaṅgali bhadraṃkarīti sraktiṣv abhidakṣiṇam sthūṇāyāṃ dhruvāyāṃ śriyai hiraṇyakeśyai vanaspatibhyaś ceti dharmādharmayor dvāre mṛtyave ca udadhāne varuṇāya viṣṇava ity ulūkhale marudbhya iti dṛṣadi upari śaraṇe vaiśravaṇāya rājñe bhūtebhyaś ceti indrāyendrapuruṣebhya iti pūrvārdhe yamāya yamapuruṣebhya iti dakṣiṇārdhe varuṇāya varuṇapuruṣebhya iti paścārdhe somāya somapuruṣebhya ity uttarārdhe brahmaṇe brahmapuruṣebhya iti madhye ūrdhvam ākāśāya sthaṇḍile divācarebhyo bhūtebhya iti divā naktaṃcarebhyo bhūtebhya iti naktam śeṣaṃ pitṛbhyaḥ piṇḍān nidadhāti udakalaśam upanidhāya svastyayanaṃ vācayati athārtavasvastyayanāni śrāvaṇyāṃ catvāri havīṃṣy āsādayed apūpaṃ sthālīpākaṃ dhānāḥ saktūn ubhayam akṣatānām vaṣaṭ te viṣṇa ity apūpasya juhoti rātrī vyakhyad iti sthālīpākasya namo astu sarpebhya iti dhānānāṃ ye vāda iti saktūnām yeṣu vā yātudhānā iti darvyāvaṭeṣu saktūnām ubhayatrākhurājāya baliṃ hared ādyantayor vā āyūtike kapote bhayārte saktuṣu bhasmani vā padaṃ dṛṣṭvā devaḥ kapota ity aṣṭarcena sthālīpākasya juhoti parīme gām aneṣateti gāṃ pariṇayanti sā dakṣiṇā āśvayujyām aśvān mahayanti sarvāṇi ca vāhanāni uttarato grāmasya vedyākṛtiṃ kṛtvā śākhābhiḥ parivāryāhataiś ca vāsobhiḥ sarvarasair ghaṭān pūrayitvā dikṣu nidadhyāt sarvabījaiś ca pātrāṇy avāntaradikṣu tam apareṇa yathoktam upasamādhāya jayaprabhṛtibhir hutvā tisro devatā yajeta varuṇam agnim aśvināv āśvayujīṃ ca ijyamāne 'śvān yojayanti sarvāṇi ca vāhanāni pradakṣiṇaṃ devayajanaṃ kavacinaḥ triḥ pariyanti praharṣān kurvanti iṣṭe yathārthaṃ samprayānti gaur vāsaḥ kaṃso hiraṇyaṃ ca dakṣiṇā rasā bījāni vāsāṃsi atha gomatāṃ vidhiḥ iha prajā yāsām ūdhaḥ pṛṣadaśvā ghṛtapratīka iti pṛṣātakasya juhoti ambhaḥ stheti lavaṇam abhimantrya gobhyo dadyāt raudrībhir abhijuhuyān nityābhiś ca dadhikrāvṇa iti pṛṣātakasya prāśnāti upasṛṣṭā gāvo vasanti atha vṛṣotsargaḥ kārttikyāṃ paurṇamāsyāṃ revatyāṃ vāśvayujyasya gavāṃ madhye suṣamiddham agniṃ kṛtvā pauṣṇaṃ caruṃ payasi śrapayitvā pūṣā gā anvetu na iti pauṣṇasya juhoti iha raḍir iti hutvā rudrāñ japitvā jīvavatsāyāḥ payasvinyāḥ putram ekarūpaṃ dvirūpaṃ vā yo vā yūthaṃ chādayed yūthe ca tejasvitamaḥ syāt tam alaṃkṛtya catasro 'ṣṭau vā vatsataryas tāś cālaṃkṛtyaitaṃ yuvānaṃ patiṃ vo dadāmy anena krīḍantīś caratha priyeṇa mā hāsmahi prajayā mā tanūbhir mā rādhāma dviṣate soma rājann iti tasya dakṣiṇe karṇe pitā vatsānām iti japitvotsṛjya prācīm udīcīṃ vā diśaṃ prakālayitvā saha vatsatarībhiḥ sarpiṣmad annaṃ brāhmaṇān bhojayet āgrahāyaṇyām etāny eva catvāri havīṃṣy āsādayed yāni śrāvaṇyāṃ yavamayas tv apūpaḥ evā vandasvety apūpasya juhoti upa te gā iti sthālīpākasya uktaṃ dhānāsaktūnām ava te heḍa iti vāruṇībhir abhijuhuyān nityābhiś ca tvām agne vṛṣabhaṃ cekitānaṃ saṃvatsarasya pratimām iti ca udagdaśam āstaraṇam āstīrya śirasta udakaṃ nidhāya vrīhiyavān opyāpohiṣṭhīyābhiḥ śayyām abhyukṣya trātāram indram iti śamīśākhayā śayyāṃ nirmārṣṭi aindrāgnaṃ varmety ahataṃ vāsaḥ paridhāya syonā pṛthivīti dakṣiṇena pārśveṇa saṃviśati jyotiṣmatītyantena abhyukṣaṇādisaṃveśanāntam evaṃ dvir uttaram caitryām udrohaṇam upariśayyā nātra sthālīpāko na śākhayā nirmārṣṭi tisro 'ṣṭakā pitṛdevatyāḥ ūrdhvam āgrahāyaṇyās trayas tāmisrās teṣv aṣṭamīṣv aṣṭakāyajñāḥ prathamāṃ śākena dvitīyāṃ māṃsena tṛtīyām apūpaiḥ ṛtūnāṃ patnīti ṣaḍ dve dve sthālīpākasya juhoti devā grāvāṇa iti sarvatra tṛtīyā iyam evety anuvākena pañcabhiḥ pañcabhir abhijuhuyāt gavā ced aṣṭakā syāt paśunā vā tad uktam vaha vapām iti vapāṃ juhuyāt peśyo 'vadānasthāne 'ṅgāriṇīḥ kuryāt yathākāmaṃ majjukā ye samānā iti dvābhyāṃ sthālīpākasya peśīnāṃ ca juhoti sviṣṭakṛddharmeṇa vahānnaṃ vaha māṃsaṃ jātavedaḥ pitṛbhya iti juhuyāt havirarhān upaveśya pitṝn āvāhayiṣyāmīty uktvā apayantv asurā iti dvābhyāṃ tilaiḥ sarvato 'vakīrya agnau karavāṇīty uktvā agniṃ paristīrya somāya pitṛmate svadhā namo 'gnaye kavyavāhanāya svadhā nama ity agnau hutvā ye māmakāḥ pitara etad vaḥ pitaro 'yaṃ yajña iti tisṛbhiḥ kalpitānnam abhimṛśati eṣā va ūrg āmāsu pakvam iti kṣīraṃ ghṛtaṃ vāsicya amuṣmai svadhā namo 'muṣmai svadhā nama iti yathāliṅgam anumantrya bhojayet prāśnantu bhavanta ity uktvā yan me prakāmād iti bhuñjānān aditir dyaur aditir indrāṇī patyety odanayoḥ śākapalalāktayoḥ gāvo bhaga iti dvābhyāṃ goyajñasya sīrā yuñjantīti tisṛbhir āyojanīyasya prathamottamābhyāṃ yunakti madhyamayā phālam śunaṃ suphālā iti aśvatthaplakṣanyagrodhodumbaraṃ dūrvāṃ ca prācīnaprasṛtāni ṣaḍ darbhapiñjūlāni sumanasaś cāpāmārgaṃ sarvabījāni sītāloṣṭaṃ gomayaṃ hiraṇyaṃ valmīkavapāṃ cādbhiḥ saṃsṛjati saṃ vaḥ sṛjāmīti dvābhyām yā oṣadhaya ity anuvākena saṃyūyāpāsmad etv iti catasṛbhiḥ saṃprokṣaṇam devādbhuteṣu yan no bhayam ity aṣṭarcena sthālīpākasya juhoti yad devā devaheḍanam iti tisṛbhir bhadraṃ karṇebhir iti catasṛbhir
