yamakavyapadeśinī prahelikā sā hy uditā rāmaśarmācyutottare kāvyānyapi yadīmāni vyākhyāgamyāni śāstravat utsavaḥ sudhiyāmeva hanta durmedhaso hatāḥ vā upamānena yattattvamupameyasya rūpyate guṇānāṃ samatāṃ dṛṣṭvā rūpakaṃ nāma tadviduḥ samastavastuviṣayamekadeśavivarti ca dvidhā rūpakam uddiṣṭam etattaccocyate yathā śīkarāmbhomadasṛjas tuṅgā jaladadantinaḥ niryānto maṇḍayantīme śakrakārmukakānanam taḍidvalayakakṣyāṇāṃ balākāmālabhāriṇām payomucāṃ dhvanirdhīro dunoti mama tāṃ priyām ādimadhyāntaviṣayaṃ tridhā dīpakamiṣyate ekasyaiva tryavasthatvāditi tadbhidyate tridhā amūni kurvate 'nvarthām asyākhyām arthadīpanāt tribhirnidarśanaiścedaṃ tridhā nirdiśyate yathā mado janayati prītiṃ sānaṅgaṃ mānabhaṅguram sa priyāsaṃgamotkaṇṭhāṃ sāsahyāṃ manasaḥ śucam mālinīraṃśukabhṛtaḥ striyo 'laṃkurute madhuḥ hārītaśukavācaśca bhūdharāṇāmupatyakāḥ cīrīmatīraraṇyānīḥ saritaḥ śuṣyadambhasaḥ pravāsināṃ ca cetāṃsi śucirantaṃ ninīṣati viruddhenopamānena deśakālakriyādibhiḥ upameyasya yatsāmyaṃ guṇaleśena sopamā yathevaśabdau sādṛśyamāhaturvyatirekiṇoḥ dūrvākāṇḍamiva śyāmaṃ tanvī śyāmālatā yathā vinā yathevaśabdābhyāṃ samāsābhihitā parā yathā kamalapattrākṣī śaśāṅkavadaneti ca abhiprāyātkavernātra vidheyā jalaje matiḥ ādhikyamupamānānāṃ nyāyyaṃ nādhikatā bhavet gokṣīrakundahalināṃ viśuddhyā sadṛśaṃ yaśaḥ ekenaivopamānena nanu sādṛśyamucyate uktārthasya prayogo hi 'parāḥ vakṣyamāṇoktaviṣayas tatrākṣepo dvidhā mataḥ ekarūpatayā śeṣā nirdekṣyante yathākramam pratiṣedha iveṣṭasya yo viśeṣābhidhitsayā ākṣepa iti taṃ santaḥ śaṃsanti dvividhaṃ yathā ahaṃ tvāṃ yadi nekṣeya kṣaṇamapyutsukā tataḥ iyadevāstvato 'nyena kimuktenāpriyeṇa tu svavikramāntabhuvaścitraṃ yanna tavoddhatiḥ ko vā seturalaṃ sindhorvikārakaraṇaṃ prati upanyasanam anyasya yadarthasyoditādṛte jñeyaḥ so 'rthāntaranyāsaḥ pūrvārthānugato yathā parānīkāni bhīmāni vivikṣorna tava vyathā sādhu vāsādhu vāgāmi puṃsām ātmaiva śaṃsati hiśabdenāpi hetvarthaprathanāduktasiddhaye ayamarthāntaranyāsaḥ sutarāṃ vyajyate yathā vahanti girayo meghānabhyupetān gurūnapi garīyāneva hi gurūn bibharti praṇayāgatān upamānavato 'rthasya yadviśeṣanidarśanam vyatirekaṃ tamicchanti viśeṣāpādanādyathā sitāsite pakṣmavatī netre te tāmrarājinī ekāntaśubhraśyāme tu puṇḍarīkāsitotpale kriyāyāḥ pratiṣedhe yā tatphalasya vibhāvanā jñeyā vibhāvanaivāsau samādhau sulabhe sati apītamattāḥ śikhino diśo 'nutkaṇṭhitākulāḥ nīpo 'viliptasurabhir abhraṣṭakaluṣaṃ jalam yatrokte gamyate'nyo'rthastatsamānaviśeṣaṇaḥ sā samāsoktiruddiṣṭā saṃkṣiptārthatayā yathā skandhavānṛjur avyālaḥ sthiro'nekamahāphalaḥ jātastarurayaṃ coccaiḥ pātitaśca nabhasvatā nimittato vaco yattu lokātikrāntagocaram manyante 'tiśayoktiṃ tāmalaṃkāratayā yathā svapuṣpacchavihāriṇyā candrabhāsā tirohitāḥ anvamīyanta bhṛṅgālivācā saptacchadadrumāḥ apāṃ yadi tvakcyutā syāt phaṇināmiva tadā śuklāṃśukāni syur aṅgeṣvambhasi yoṣitām ityevamādir uditā guṇātiśayayogataḥ sarvaivātiśayoktistu tarkayet tāṃ yathāgamam saiṣā sarvaiva vakroktiranayārtho vibhāvyate yatno'syāṃ kavinā kāryaḥ ko 'laṃkāro'nayā vinā hetuśca sūkṣmo leśo'tha nālaṃkāratayā mataḥ samudāyābhidhānasya vakroktyanabhidhānataḥ gato'stamarko bhātīnduryānti vāsāya pakṣiṇaḥ ityevamādi kiṃ kāvyaṃ vārttāmenāṃ pracakṣate yathāsaṃkhyam athotprekṣām alaṃkāradvayaṃ viduḥ saṃkhyānamiti medhāvinotprekṣābhihitā kvacit bhūyasām upadiṣṭānāmarthānāmasadharmaṇām kramaśo yo 'nunirdeśo yathāsaṃkhyaṃ taducyate padmendubhṛṅgamātaṃgapuṃskokilakalāpinaḥ vaktrakāntīkṣaṇagativāṇībālaistvayā jitāḥ avivakṣitasāmānyā kiṃcic copamayā saha atadguṇakriyāyogādutprekṣātiśayānvitā ādhāvanmaṇḍalair nudan gā vārayati daṇḍena ḍimbhaḥ śasyāvatāraṇīḥ samāsenoditamidaṃ dhīkhedāyaiva vistaraḥ asaṃgṛhītam apyanyad abhyūhyam anayā diśā svayaṃ kṛtair eva nidarśanairiyaṃ mayā prakᄆptā khalu vāgalaṃkṛtiḥ ataḥ paracāruranekadhāparo girām alaṃkāravidhir vidhāsyate preyo rasavad ūrjasvi paryāyoktaṃ samāhitam dviprakāramudāttaṃ ca bhedaiḥ śliṣṭamapi tribhiḥ apahnutiṃ viśeṣoktiṃ viśeṣaṃ tulyayogitām aprastutapraśaṃsāṃ ca vyājastutinidarśane upamārūpakaṃ cānyadupameyopamāmapi sahoktiparivṛttī ca sasaṃdeham ananvayam utprekṣāvayavaṃ cānye saṃsṛṣṭamapi cāpare bhāvikatvaṃ ca nijaguralaṃkāraṃ sumedhasaḥ preyo gṛhāgataṃ kṛṣṇamavādīdviduro yathā adya yā mama govinda jātā tvayi gṛhāgate kālenaiṣā bhavet prītistavaivāgamanāt punaḥ rasavad darśitaspaṣṭaśṛṅgārādirasaṃ yathā devī samāgamad dharmamaskariṇyatirohitā ūrjasvi karṇena yathā pārthāya punarāgataḥ dviḥ saṃdadhāti kiṃ karṇaḥ śalyetyahirapākṛtaḥ paryāyoktaṃ yadanyena prakāreṇābhidhīyate uvāca ratnāharaṇe caidyaṃ śārṅgadhanuryathā gṛheṣvadhvasu vā nānnaṃ bhuñjmahe yadadhītinaḥ na bhuñjate dvijāstacca rasadānanivṛttaye samāhitaṃ rājamitre yathā kṣatriyayoṣitām rāmaprasaktyai yāntīnāṃ puro'dṛśyata nāradaḥ udāttaśaktimān rāmo guruvākyānurodhakaḥ vihāyopanataṃ rājyaṃ yathā vanamupāgamat etadevāpare'nyena vyākhyānenānyathā viduḥ nānāratnādiyuktaṃ yattat kilodāttamucyate cāṇakyo naktam upayān nandakrīḍāgṛhaṃ yathā śaśikāntopalacchannaṃ viveda payasāṃ gaṇaiḥ upamānena yattattvamupameyasya sādhyate guṇakriyābhyāṃ nāmnā ca śliṣṭaṃ tadabhidhīyate lakṣaṇaṃ rūpake'pīdaṃ lakṣyate kāmamatra tu iṣṭaḥ prayogo yugapadupamānopameyayoḥ śīkarāmbhomadasṛjastuṅgā jaladadantinaḥ ityatra meghakariṇāṃ nirdeśaḥ kriyate samam śleṣādevārthavacasorasya ca kriyate bhidā tatsahoktyupamāhetunirdeśāt kramaśo yathā chāyāvanto gatavyālāḥ svārohāḥ phaladāyinaḥ mārgadrumā mahāntaśca pareṣāmeva bhūtaye unnatā lokadayitā mahāntaḥ prājyavarṣiṇaḥ śamayanti kṣitestāpaṃ surājāno ghanā iva ratnavattvādagādhatvāt svamaryādāvilaṅghanāt bahusātvāśrayatvācca sadṛśatvam udanvatā apahnutirabhīṣṭā ca kiṃcidantargatopamā bhūtārthāpahnavādasyāḥ kriyate cābhidhā yathā neyaṃ virauti bhṛṅgālī madena mukharā muhuḥ ayamākṛṣyamāṇasya kandarpadhanuṣo dhvaniḥ ekadeśasya vigame yā guṇāntarasaṃsthitiḥ viśeṣaprathanāyāsau viśeṣoktirmatā yathā sa ekas trīṇi jayati jaganti kusumāyudhaḥ haratāpi tanuṃ yasya śambhunā na hṛtaṃ balam guṇasya vā kriyāyā vā viruddhānyakriyābhidhā yā viśeṣābhidhānāya virodhaṃ taṃ vidurbudhāḥ upāntarūḍhopavanacchāyāśītāpi dhūr asau vidūradeśānapi vaḥ saṃtāpayati vidviṣaḥ nyūnasyāpi viśiṣṭena guṇasāmyavivakṣayā tulyakāryakriyāyogād ityuktā tulyayogitā śeṣo himagiristvaṃ ca mahānto guravaḥ sthirāḥ yad alaṅghitamaryādāś calantīṃ bibhṛtha kṣitim adhikārādapetasya vastuno'nyasya yā stutiḥ aprastutapraśaṃseti sā caivaṃ kathyate yathā prīṇitapraṇayi svādu kāle pariṇataṃ bahu vinā puruṣakāreṇa phalaṃ paśyata śākhinām dūrādhikaguṇastotravyapadeśena tulyatām kiṃcid vidhitsoryā nindā vyājastutir asau yathā rāmaḥ saptābhinat sālān giriṃ krauñcaṃ bhṛgūttamaḥ śatāṃśenāpi bhavatā kiṃ tayoḥ sadṛśaṃ kṛtam kriyayaiva viśiṣṭasya tadarthasyopadarśanāt jñeyā nidarśanā nāma yathevavatibhir vinā ayaṃ mandadyutirbhāsvānastaṃ prati yiyāsati udayaḥ patanāyeti śrīmato bodhayannarān upamānena tadbhāvamupameyasya sādhayat yāṃ vadatyupamāmetadupamārūpakaṃ yathā samagragaganāyāmamānadaṇḍo rathāṅginaḥ pādo jayati siddhasrīmukhendunavadarpaṇaḥ upamānopameyatvaṃ yatra paryāyato bhavet upameyopamāṃ nāma bruvate tāṃ yathoditām sugandhi nayanānandi madirāmadapāṭalam ambhojamiva vaktraṃ te tvadāsyamiva paṅkajam tulyakāle kriye yatra vastudvayasamāśraye padenaikena kathyete sahoktiḥ sā matā yathā himapātāviladiśo gāḍhāliṅganahetavaḥ vṛddhimāyānti yāminyaḥ kāmināṃ prītibhiḥ saha viśiṣṭasya yad ādānam anyāpohena vastunaḥ arthāntaranyāsavatī parivṛttirasau yathā pradāya vittamarthibhyaḥ sa yaśodhanamāditaḥ satāṃ viśvajanīnānāmidamaskhalitaṃ vratam upamānena tattvaṃ ca bhedaṃ ca vadataḥ punaḥ sasaṃdehaṃ vacaḥ stutyai sasaṃdehaṃ viduryathā kimayaṃ śaśī na sa divā virājate kusumāyudho na dhanurasya kausumam iti vismayādvimṛśato'pi me matistvayi vīkṣate na labhate'rthaniścayam yatra tenaiva tasya syād upamānopameyatā asādṛśyavivakṣātas tam ityāhur ananvayam tāmbūlarāgavalayaṃ sphuraddaśanadīdhiti indīvarābhanayanaṃ taveva vadanaṃ tava śliṣṭasyārthena saṃyuktaḥ kiṃcidutprekṣayānvitaḥ rūpakārthena ca punarutprekṣāvayavo yathā tulyodayāvasānatvād gate'staṃ prati bhāsvati vāsāya vāsaraḥ klānto viśatīva tamogṛham varā vibhūṣā saṃsṛṣṭirbahvalaṃkārayogataḥ racitā ratnamāleva sā caivamuditā yathā gāmbhīryalāghavavator yuvayoḥ prājyaratnayoḥ sukhasevyo janānāṃ tvaṃ duṣṭagrāho'mbhasāṃ patiḥ analaṃkṛtakāntaṃ te vadanaṃ vanajadyuti niśākṛtaḥ prakṛtyaiva cāroḥ kā vāstyalaṃkṛtiḥ anyeṣāmapi kartavyā saṃsṛṣṭiranayā diśā kiyadudghaṭṭitajñebhyaḥ śakyaṃ kathayituṃ mayā bhāvikatvamiti prāhuḥ prabandhaviṣayaṃ guṇam pratyakṣā iva dṛśyante yatrārthā bhūtabhāvinaḥ citrodāttādbhutārthatvaṃ kathāyāḥ svabhinītatā śabdānākulatā ceti tasya hetuṃ pracakṣate āśīr api ca keṣāṃcidalaṃkāratayā matā sauhṛdayyāvirodhoktau prayogo 'syāśca tadyathā asmin jahīhi suhṛdi praṇayābhyasūyām āśliṣya gāḍham amumānatamādareṇa vindhyaṃ mahāniva ghanaḥ samaye'bhivarṣann ānandajair nayanavāribhirukṣatu tvām madāndhamātaṃgavibhinnasālā hatapravīrā drutabhītapaurāḥ tvattejasā dagdhasamastaśobhā dviṣāṃ puraḥ paśyatu rājalokaḥ girāmalaṃkāravidhiḥ savistaraḥ svayaṃ viniścitya dhiyā mayoditaḥ anena vāgarthavidāmalaṃkṛtā vibhāti nārīva vidagdhamaṇḍanā apārthaṃ vyarthamekārthaṃ sasaṃśayam apakramam śabdahīnaṃ yatibhraṣṭaṃ bhinnavṛttaṃ visaṃdhi ca deśakālakalālokanyāyāgamavirodhi ca pratijñāhetudṛṣṭāntahīnaṃ duṣṭaṃ ca neṣyate apārthamityapetārthaṃ sa cārthaḥ padavākyayoḥ arthavān varṇasaṃghātaḥ suptiṅantaṃ padaṃ punaḥ padānāmeva saṃghātaḥ sāpekṣāṇāṃ parasparam nirākākṣaṃ ca tadvākyamekavastunibandhanam kramavṛttiṣu varṇeṣu saṃghātādi na yujyate buddhau tu sambhavatyetadanyatve'pi pratikṣaṇam dhīr antyaśabdaviṣayā vṛttavarṇāhitasmṛtiḥ vākyamityāhurapare na śabdāḥ kṣaṇanaśvarāḥ atrāpi bahu vaktavyaṃ jāyate tattu noditam gurubhiḥ kiṃ vivādena yathāprakṛtamucyate samudāyārthaśūnyaṃ yattadapārthakamiṣyate dāḍimāni daśāpūpāḥ ṣaḍityādi yathoditam niruddhārthaṃ mataṃ vyarthaṃ viruddhaṃ tūpadiśyate pūrvāparārthavyāghātādviparyayakaraṃ yathā sakhi mānaṃ priye dhehi laghutāmasya mā gamaḥ bhartuśchandānuvartinyaḥ prema ghnanti na hi striyaḥ upāsitagurutvāttvaṃ vijitendriyaśatruṣu śreyaso vinayādhānamadhunā tiṣṭha kevalam yadabhinnārthamanyonyaṃ tadekārthaṃ pracakṣate punaruktamidaṃ prāhuranye śabdārthabhedataḥ na śabdapunaruktaṃ tu sthaulyādatropavarṇyate kathamākṣiptacittaḥ sann uktam evābhidhāsyate bhayaśokābhyasūyāsu harṣavismayayorapi yathāha gaccha gaccheti punaruktaṃ ca tadviduḥ atrārthapunaruktaṃ yattadevaikārthamiṣyate uktasya punarākhyāne kāryāsaṃbhavato yathā tāmutkamanasaṃ nūnaṃ karoti dhvanirambhasām saudheṣu ghanamuktānāṃ praṇālīmukhapātinām śruteḥ sāmānyadharmāṇāṃ viśeṣasyānudāhṛteḥ apratiṣṭhaṃ yadekatra tajjñānaṃ saṃśayaṃ viduḥ sasaṃśayamiti prāhustatastajjananaṃ vacaḥ iṣṭaṃ niścitaye vākyaṃ na velāyeti tadyathā vyālavanto durārohā ratnavantaḥ phalānvitāḥ viṣamā bhūbhṛtastebhyo bhayamāśu pramādinām yathopadeśaṃ kramaśo nirdeśo'tra kramo mataḥ tadapetaṃ viparyāsādityākhyātamapakramam vidadhānau kirīṭendū śyāmābhrahimasacchavī rathāṅgaśūle bibhrāṇau pātāṃ vaḥ śambhuśārṅgiṇau sūtrakṛtpādakāreṣṭaprayogād yo 'nyathā bhavet tam āptaśrāvakāḥ siddheḥ śabdahīnaṃ viduryathā sphurattaḍidvalayino vitatāmbhogarīyasaḥ tejas tirayataḥ sauraṃ ghanān paśya divābhitaḥ yatiśchandonirūḍhānāṃ śabdānāṃ yā vicāraṇā tadapetaṃ yatibhraṣṭamiti nirdiśyate yathā vidyutvantas tamālāsitavapuṣa ime vārivāhā dhvananti gurorlaghośca varṇasya yo 'sthāne racanāvidhiḥ tannyūnādhikatā vāpi bhinnavṛttamidaṃ yathā bhramati bhramaramālā kānaneṣūnmadāsau virahitaramaṇīko 'rhasyadya gantum kānte induśiroratne ādadhāne udaṃśunī pātāṃ vaḥ śambhuśarvāṇyāv iti prāhur visaṃdhyadaḥ yā deśe dravyasambhūtirapi vā nopadiśyate tattadvirodhi vijñeyaṃ svabhāvāttadyathocyate malaye kandaropāntarūḍhakālāgurudrume sugandhikusumānamrā rājante devadāravaḥ ṣaṇṇāmṛtūnāṃ bhedena kālaḥ ṣoḍheva bhidyate tadvirodhakṛdityāhurviparyāsādidaṃ yathā udūḍhaśiśirāsārān prāvṛṣeṇyān nabhasvataḥ phullāḥ surabhayantīme cūtāḥ kānanaśobhinaḥ kalā saṃkalanāprajñā śilpānyasyāśca gocaraḥ viparyastaṃ tathaivāhustadvirodhakaraṃ yathā ṛṣabhātpañcamāttasmāt saṣaḍjaṃ dhaivataṃ smṛtam ayaṃ hi madhyamagrāmo madhyamotpīḍitarṣabhaḥ iti sādhāritaṃ mohād anyathaivāvagacchati anyāsvapi kalāsvevamabhidheyā virodhitā sthāsnujaṅgamabhedena lokaṃ tattvavido viduḥ sa ca tadvyavahāro'tra tadvirodhakaraṃ yathā teṣāṃ kaṭataṭabhraṣṭairgajānāṃ madabindubhiḥ prāvartata nadī ghorā hastyaśvarathavāhinī dhāvatāṃ sainyavāhānāṃ phenavāri mukhacyutam cakāra jānudaghnāpān pratidiṅmukhamadhvanaḥ nyāyaḥ śāstraṃ trivargoktidaṇḍanītiṃ ca tāṃ viduḥ ato nyāyavirodhīṣṭamapetaṃ yattayā yathā vijigīṣumupanyasya vatseśaṃ vṛddhadarśanam tasyaiva kṛtinaḥ paścādabhyadhāccāraśūnyatām antaryodhaśatākīrṇaṃ sālaṅkāyananetṛkam tathāvidhaṃ gajacchadma nājñāsītsa svabhūgatam yadi vopekṣitaṃ tasya sacivaiḥ svārthasiddhaye aho nu mandimā teṣāṃ bhaktirvā nāsti bhartari śarā dṛḍhadhanurmuktā manyumadbhirarātibhiḥ marmāṇi parihṛtyāsya patiṣyantīti kānumā hato 'nena mama bhrātā mama putraḥ pitā mama mātulo bhāgineyaśca ruṣā saṃrabdhacetasaḥ asyanto vividhāny ājāv āyudhānyaparādhinam ekākinamaraṇyānyāṃ na hanyurbahavaḥ katham namo'stu tebhyo vidvadbhyo ye 'bhiprāyaṃ kaverimam śāstralokāv apāsyaiva nayanti nayavedinaḥ sacetaso vanebhasya carmaṇā nirmitasya ca viśeṣaṃ veda bālo'pi kaṣṭaṃ kiṃ nu kathaṃ nu tat āgamo dharmaśāstrāṇi lokasīmā ca tatkṛtā tadvirodhi tadācāravyatikramaṇato yathā bhūbhṛtāṃ pītasomānāṃ nyāyye vartmani tiṣṭhatām alaṃkariṣṇunā vaṃśaṃ gurau sati jigīṣuṇā abhāryoḍhena saṃskāramantareṇa dvijanmanā naravāhanadattena veśyāvān niśi pīḍitaḥ na dūṣaṇāyāyamudāhṛto vidhirna cābhimānena kimu pratīyate kṛtātmanāṃ tattvadṛśāṃ ca mādṛśo jano 'bhisaṃdhiṃ ka ivāvabhotsyate atha pratijñāhetvādihīnaṃ duṣṭaṃ ca varṇyate samāsena yathānyāyaṃ tanmātrārthapratītaye prāyeṇa durbodhatayā śāstrād bibhyatyamedhasaḥ tadupacchandanāyaiṣa hetunyāyalavoccayaḥ svādukāvyarasonmiśraṃ śāstramapyupayuñjate prathamālīḍhamadhavaḥ pibanti kaṭu bheṣajam na sa śabdo na tadvācyaṃ na sa nyāyo na sā kalā jāyate yanna kāvyāṅgamaho bhāro mahān kaveḥ sattvādayaḥ pramāṇābhyāṃ pratyakṣamanumā ca te asādhāraṇasāmānyaviṣayatvaṃ tayoḥ kila pratyakṣaṃ kalpanāpoḍhaṃ tato 'rthāditi kecana kalpanāṃ nāma jātyādiyojanāṃ pratijānate samāropaḥ kilaitāvān sadarthālambanaṃ ca tat jātyādyapohe vṛttiḥ kva kva viśeṣaḥ kutaśca saḥ tadapoheṣu ca tathā siddhā sā buddhigocarā avastukaṃ cedvitathaṃ pratyakṣaṃ tattvavṛtti hi grāhyagrāhakabhedena vijñānāṃśo mato yadi vijñānamatra sādṛśyādviśeṣo 'sya vikalpanā arthādeveti rūpādestata eveti nānyataḥ anyathā ghaṭavijñānamanyena vyapadiśyate trirūpālliṅgato jñānamanumānaṃ ca kecana tadvido nāntarīyārthadarśanaṃ cāparaṃ viduḥ vividhāspadadharmeṇa dharmīkṛtaviśeṣaṇaḥ pakṣastasya ca nirdeśaḥ pratijñetyabhidhīyate tadarthahetusiddhāntasarvāgamavirodhinī viruddhadharmā pratyakṣabādhinī ceti duṣyati tayaiva hi tadarthasya virodhakaraṇaṃ yathā yatirmama pitā bālyāt sūnuryasyāham aurasaḥ astyātmā prakṛtirveti jñeyā hetvapavādinī dharmiṇo 'syāprasiddhatvāt taddharmo'pi na setsyati śāśvato'śāśvato veti prasiddhe dharmiṇi dhvanau jāyate bhedaviṣayo vivādo vādinormithaḥ svasiddhāntavirodhitvādvijñeyā tadvirodhinī kaṇabhakṣo yathā śabdamācakṣītāvinaśvaram sarvaśāstraviruddhatvātsarvāgamavirodhinī yathā śucistanuḥ straiṇī tatpramāṇāni santi vā ā kumāram asaṃdigdhadharmāhitaviśeṣaṇā prasiddhadharmeti matā śrotragrāhyo dhvaniryathā pratyakṣabādhinī tena pramāṇenaiva bādhyate yathā śīto'nalo nāsti rūpamuṣṇaḥ kṣapākaraḥ san pakṣe sadṛśe siddho vyāvṛttastadvipakṣataḥ hetustrilakṣaṇo jñeyo hetvābhāso viparyayāt san dvayoriti yaḥ siddhaḥ svapakṣaparapakṣayoḥ abhinnalakṣaṇaḥ pakṣaḥ phalabhedādayaṃ dvidhā parapakṣānupādānaṃ tadvṛtteścānudāhṛtau kathamanyatarāsiddhahetvābhāsavyavasthitiḥ sādhyadharmānugamataḥ sadṛśastatra yaśca san anyo'pyasāv eka iva sāmānyādupacaryate vipakṣastadvisadṛśo vyāvṛttastatra yo hy asan iti dvayaikānugatir vyāvṛttir lakṣmasādhutā sādhyasādhanadharmābhyāṃ siddho dṛṣṭānta ucyate tadviparyayato vāpi tadābhastadavṛttitaḥ sādhyena liṅgānugītastadabhāve ca nāstitā khyāpyate yena dṛṣṭāntaḥ sa kilānyairdvidhocyate dūṣaṇanyūnatādyuktirnyūnaṃ hetvādinātra ca tanmūlatvātkathāyāśca nyūnaṃ neṣṭaṃ pratijñayā jātayo dūṣaṇābhāsāstāḥ sādharmyasamādhayaḥ tāsāṃ prapañco bahudhā bhūyastvādiha noditaḥ aparaṃ vakṣyate nyāyalakṣaṇaṃ kāvyasaṃśrayam idaṃ tu śāstragarbheṣu kāvyeṣvabhihitaṃ yathā atha nityāvinābhāvi dṛṣṭaṃ jagati kāraṇam kāraṇaṃ cen na tannityaṃ nityaṃ cet kāraṇaṃ na tat lakṣmaprayogadoṣāṇāṃ bhedenānekavartmanā saṃdhādisādhanaṃ siddhyai śāstreṣūditamanyathā tajjñaiḥ kāvyaprayogeṣu tat prāduṣkṛtam anyathā tatra lokāśrayaṃ kāvyamāgamāstattvaśaṃsinaḥ asisaṃkāśam ākāśaṃ śabdo dūrānupātyayam tadeva vāpi sindhūnāmaho sthemā mahārciṣaḥ rūpādīnāṃ yathā dravyamāśrayo naśvarīti yā iṣṭakāryābhyupagamaṃ pratijñāṃ pratijānate dharmārthakāmakopānāṃ saṃśrayātsā caturvidhā jarāmeṣa bibharmīti pratijñāya pituryathā tathaiva puruṇābhāri sā syāddharmanibandhanī upalapsye svayaṃ sītāmiti bhartṛnideśataḥ hanūmatā pratijñāya sā jñātetyarthasaṃśrayā āhariṣyāmyamumadya mahāsenātmajāmiti kṛtvā pratijñāṃ vatsena hṛteti madanāśrayā bhrāturbhrātṛvyamunmathya pāsyāmyasyāsṛgāhave pratijñāya yathā bhīmas taccakārāvaśo ruṣā kāryo'nyatra pratijñāyāḥ prayogo na kathaṃcana parityāgasya kartavyo nāsāṃ catasṛṇām api prāyopaveśāya yathā pratijñāya suyodhanaḥ rājyāya punaruttasthāv iti dharmavirodhinī āhūto na nivarteya dyūtāyeti yudhiṣṭhiraḥ kṛtvā saṃdhāṃ śakuninā didevetyarthabādhinī adyārabhya nivatsyāmi munivad vacanāditi pituḥ priyāya yāṃ bhīṣmaścakre sā kāmabādhinī atyājayad yathā rāmaḥ sarvakṣatravadhāśrayām jāmadagnyaṃ yudhā jitvā sā jñeyā kopabādhinī athābhyupagamaprāptiḥ saṃdhābhyupagamādvinā anuktamapi yatrārthādabhyupaiti yathocyate kimindriyadviṣā jñeyaṃ ko nirākṛtaye 'ribhiḥ ko vā gatvaramarthibhyo na yacchati dhanaṃ laghu kimatyayaṃ tu yaḥ kṣepaḥ saukaryaṃ darśayatyasau hetustrilakṣmaiva mataḥ kāvyeṣvapi sumedhasām anvayavyatirekau hi kevalāv arthasiddhaye yathābhito vanābhogametadasti mahatsaraḥ kūjanātkurarāṇāṃ ca kamalānāṃ ca saurabhāt anyadharmo'pi tatsiddhiṃ sambandhena karotyayam dhūmādabhraṃkaṣāt sāgneḥ pradeśasyānumāmiva apṛthakkṛtasādhyo'pi hetuścātra pratīyate anvayavyatirekābhyāṃ vinaivārthagatiryathā dīpradīpā niśā jajñe vyapavṛttadivākarā hetupradīpadīpatvamapavṛttau raveriha tasyāpi sudhiyām iṣṭā doṣāḥ prāguditās trayaḥ ajñānasaṃśayajñānaviparyayakṛto yathā kāśā haranti hṛdayamamī kusumasaurabhāt apām abhyarṇavartitvādete jñeyāḥ śarāravaḥ asau śuklāntanetratvāccakora iti gṛhyatām tulyajātāv adṛṣṭatvāt sādhayatyacakoratām uktasyārthasya dṛṣṭāntaṃ pratibimbanidarśanam nanūpamānamevāstu na hetvanabhidhānataḥ sādhyasādhanayoruktiruktādanyatra neṣyate mukhaṃ padmamivetyatra kiṃ sādhyaṃ kiṃ ca sādhanam iti prayogasya yathā kalāv api bhavāniha śreyān vṛddhānuśiṣṭatvāt pūrve kārtayuge yathā yatra dṛṣṭāntamātreṇa vyajyete sādhyasādhane tamāhuḥ śuddhadṛṣṭāntaṃ tanmātrāviṣkṛteryathā bharatastvaṃ dilīpastvaṃ tvamevailaḥ purūravāḥ tvameva vīra pradyumnastvameva naravāhanaḥ kathamekapadenaiva vyajyerannasya te guṇāḥ iti prayuñjate santaḥ kecidvistarabhīravaḥ padamekaṃ paraṃ sādhu nārvācīnaṃ nibandhanam vaiparītyādviparyāsaṃ kīrterapi karoti tat ahṛdyamasubhirbhedaṃ rasavattve'pyapeśalam kāvyaṃ kapitthamāmraṃ vat keṣāṃcit sadṛśaṃ yathā prajājanaśreṣṭhavariṣṭhabhūbhṛcchirocitāṅghreḥ pṛthukīrtidhiṣṇya ahighnapadmasya jalāridhāmnas tavaiva prāgitthaṃ samayaḥ kṛtaḥ sa kūṭastho'napāyī ca nādādanyaśca kathyate mandāḥ sāṃketikānarthān manyante pāramārthikān vinaśvaro'stu nityo vā sambandho'rthena vā satā namo'stu tebhyo vidvadbhyaḥ pramāṇaṃ ye'sya niścitau anyāpohena śabdo'rtham āhetyanye pracakṣate anyāpohaśca nāmānyapadārthāpākṛtiḥ kila yadi gaurityayaṃ śabdaḥ kṛtārtho'nyanirākṛtau janako gavi gobuddher mṛgyatām aparo dhvaniḥ arthajñānaphalāḥ śabdā na caikasya phaladvayam apavādavidhijñāne phale caikasya vaḥ katham purā gauriti vijñānaṃ gośabdaśravaṇādbhavet yenāgopratiṣedhāya pravṛtto gauriti dhvaniḥ varṇabhedādidaṃ bhinnaṃ varṇāḥ svāṃśavikalpataḥ ke śabdāḥ kiṃ ca tadvācyamityaho vartma dustaram dravyakriyājātiguṇabhedāt te ca caturvidhāḥ yadṛcchāśabdamapyanye ḍitthādi pratijānate nānābhāṣāviṣayiṇām aparyantārthavartinām iyattā kena vāmīṣāṃ viśeṣādavadhāryate vakravācāṃ kavīnāṃ ye prayogaṃ prati sādhavaḥ prayoktuṃ ye na yuktāśca tadviveko'yamucyate nāprayuktaṃ prayuñjīta cetaḥsammohakāriṇam tulyārthatve'pi hi brūyātko hanti gativācinam śrotrādiṃ na tu durbodhaṃ na duṣṭādimapeśalam grāmyaṃ na piṇḍīśūrādiṃ na ḍitthādimapārthakam nāpratītānyathārthatvaṃ dhātvanekārthatāvaśāt na vakṣyatīti virato'hamato vicārāt śabdārṇavasya yadi kaścidupaiti pāraṃ bhīmāmbhasaśca jaladheriti vismayo'sau vidyānāṃ satatamapāśrayo'parāsāṃ tāsūktānna ca viruṇaddhi kāṃścidarthān śraddheyaṃ jagati mataṃ hi pāṇinīyaṃ mādhyasthyād bhavati na kasyacitpramāṇam avalokya matāni satkavīnām avagamya svadhiyā ca kāvyalakṣma sujanāvagamāya bhāmahena grathitaṃ rakrilagomisūnunedam iti śrībhāmahālaṃkāre
