ISynopsis

Western Odisha's most important festival — Nua means new, Khai means food. The first rice of the new harvest is offered to the family deity (usually Samaleswari Devi at Sambalpur or local village goddesses) and then ritually consumed by the family together. Juhar bhet (greeting ceremony) where younger family members bow to elders. Sambalpuri folk dances (Sambalpuri Danda Nata) and music.
