ISynopsis
While Makar Sankranti is pan-Hindu, Gujarat and Rajasthan have a unique tradition of competitive kite flying (patang bazi) throughout the day. Ahmedabad's International Kite Festival draws participants from 40 countries. Til-gul (sesame-jaggery sweets) exchanged with the saying til gul ghya ani god god bola (take sesame-jaggery and speak sweetly). Also called Uttarayan in Gujarat.
