The entire month of Kartika (October-November) is considered the most auspicious for bathing in sacred rivers — especially the Ganga. Devotees take pre-dawn bath (Brahma Muhurta) daily for 30 days, light lamps at river ghats, and observe special Vaishnava fasts. Tulsi Vivaha occurs during this month. Vrindavan and Varanasi are the major centers.
