Maharashtrian and Konkan coastal festival marking the end of monsoon and start of fishing season. Fishermen offer coconuts (narali) to the sea and Varuna (sea god) as thanks and seek permission to resume fishing. Also coincides with Raksha Bandhan. Communities along the Konkan coast gather at beaches; coconut sweets (naralache laadu) distributed.
